Texans | OU's Stoops Takes in a Practice
Tue, 2 Aug 2005 20:00:17 -0700

Kris Krikes, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and his staff spent the day shadowing the Texans' coaching staff Tuesday, Aug. 2. The group sat in on coaches meetings, reviewing different offensive plays, learning new defensive schemes and watching practice. "The coaches were kind enough to spend some time with us in meetings," Stoops said. "It was fantastic. Coach Capers and all the coaches were really accommodating and made us feel welcome. It was a great experience."

Why would he be there?

Stoops, whose Sooners are recovering from an upsetting loss in the 2005 national championship game to the University of Southern California , is one of many coaches that is curious to gather new ideas from the professional ranks.

“We try to be as accommodating as we can to any of the college staffs that want to come it,” Capers said. “It’s a two way street.

“Once the season is over, we spend an awful lot of time going in there and its impossible for us to evaluate players if they close there operation up. If they want to come in and watch us practice, they’re more than welcome.”

For a second there i thought that the Texans might be offering Stoops a job after next season.

as a loyal UT fan would rather see Stoops counseling prisoners since he has more experience with criminals
