Steel B's Post Sr. Bowl Mock

Rd.1Da'Rick Rodgers WR Tenn Tech 6'2 206 4.52, Rodgers has great hands, knows how to use his body to shield defenders. Very physical once the ball is in his hands, great blocker. Best WR in this draft. Wouldn't be there at 27 without the pot suspensions. Perfect fit for the Texans. I believe he will time faster than his projected 40 time, if not he plays faster than 4.52

Rd.2 Tyler Bray QB Tenn 6'5 215 5.16, although many disagree Bray is the best QB in this draft. Strong accurate arm, good at navigating the pocket. Sometimes forces the ball due to his belief in his arm. They say he lacks leadership skills, but when Dooley is your HC it's hard to be a leader when your HC has 0 leadership skills. Bray needs to improve his footwork and he and his roommate got into trouble for throwing beer bottles a a girls car. (Who hasn't wanted to do that, no charges filed) 34 TD's 14 ints 3600 yds his Sr season.

3.Akeem Spence NT Ill 6'1 305 5.12, Spence is a squatty powerful man who has good quickness and a low center of gravity so that he's very hard to move at the POA. He is also strong and has the abilty to shoot the gaps.

3. Reid Fragel OT Ohio St. 6'7 298 4.92 Fragel is strong and has a mean streak. He's a former TE so he has the footwork and athletic ability to be a perfect fit in the ZBS at RT. Fragel is new to the position and is a work in progress. He could stand to put on 10-15 Lbs and certianly has the frame to do so.

Rd.4 Cornelius Washinton OLB/DE Ga. 6'4 269 4.79 Washington impressed me with his burst of of the ball and pass rush moves at the Sr Bowl. He has experience playing in the 3-4 at Ga and can rush the passer with his hand on the ground or standing up. Washington is the kind of player that will probably be a better pro than he was in college. He has great athletic ability, if I had to trade up to get him I would.

Rd.5 Cooper Taylor SS Richmond 6'4 227 4.57, Taylor was 2nd team all ACC Ga Tech before transfering to Richmond. He is a big athletic guy who is great in the box, and has the speed to cover the TE or the backend. Very physical Cooper would allow Quin to play more on the back end. He also is a very good ST guy.

Rd.5 Steve Williams CB Cal 5'9 185 4.38, Williams is a very good cover guy, he has the sze speed and quickness to cover the slot, his tackling is just OK. He reminds me of the good version of McCain. Who he would be replacing. Gunner on ST's

Rd.6 Tom Wort ILB Okla, 6'0 238 4.52 Wort is an intense, somewhat limited ILB, he's a smart player who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Should be a really good ST guy. He's a leader.

Rd.7 Courtney Gardner WR Sierra College JC, 6'3 215 4.38 Gardner has all of the natural ability to become a great WR. Think of LeStar Jean with world class speed. He is a hands catcher who plucks the ball. Needs work on his route running (What rookie doesn't) Was recruited by Okla, USC, UCLA coming out of HS. But couldn't make the grades. This is the time to take a chance on a guy that compares to Jacoby physically instead of draft Jones like the Texans did in the 3rd rd.

Priority FA Lucas Reed TE New Mexico 6'6 250 4.78 Brooks not so little brother, imagine Brooks playing TE, very intense, playing for a triple option team this yr he had to be a great blocker or he wouldn't have played. Good hands, avg speed. Think Dreesen

I put quite a bit of thought into this mock and would appreciate al feedback

You know I have Rodgers rated as the #1 WR in this draft .... love the rest of the draft too tho Im still not sold on Bray its painfully obvious the Texans need to address the position going forward.

IMO

No way Texans draft Rodgers, at least not in the first. sorry. great talent wasted.

Bray I could see an outside shot. Interview sessions will be critical. Andre Ware loves the guy so maybe he has some pull?

Spence is very underwhelming. Good school however, sure Texans have scouted him but lacks motor & passion for the game.

Fragel I like here. Could be excellent swing tackle, heck use him in TE sets.

Cornelius is explosive at times. Does he have health issue or something? Addresses big need for pass rusher.

Taylor is a big dude. why did he transfer were there any drug related problems?

Williams a good pick to cover loss of McCain I get that.

Man I was real high on Wort year or so ago what happened to him & that Oklahoma defense? Still seems like real good value here.

Don't know anything about Gardner, sound good however. 7th why not, but no punter? really? SB you gotta pick one!

Reed would be super cool pick. After Fragel probably my favorite out of the group.

Not real high or low with this mock just sota, off a bit. I like trench warfare early, plug in one or two WR's, secondary, LB & Punter. Don't forget the punter next time :ahhaha:

Ware has about as much pull as you do ...... None. Not being sarcastic , just telling it how it is. If they are drafting a QB , its Gary's pick.

As for Rogers , I think its likely they take a shot at the best talent in the draft at the position .... who woulda thunk they would take Posey last year ?!

There is a big difference in trading gear for tats and failing drug test.

Multiple. I fixed it for you. He failed 3 drug tests to get kicked out of Tenn.. I agree with mussop, big difference.

Rick Smith said last year that the Texans will forgive a players indiscretions as long as it's a one time thing, the player has owned up to their responsibility, and fixed the problem.

DaRick Rogers is a possibility but I think it's a slim one, but don't worry someone will take him and allow another good WR to slide down to us.

Thanks for fixing it. That is what I meant.

Looks like a normal draft yr, the guys in this mock performed as I expected at the combine.

Rodgers- Outstanding, 1st rd pick without the pot, maybe 1st rd pick anyway.

Bray- improved his stock, showed the strongest arm of any QB at the Combine

Fragel- Ran a 5.16 with 1.76 split 33 reps most of any OT.

Washington- Best overall numbers of any LB at the combine. Outshined his more celebrated Ga. teammates

Williams- Had the best unofficial 40 time of any CB, readjusted to a 4.42 which is still blazing, tied for 1st with a 40.5 vert, a really underrated nickle CB, replaces McCain, is what Harris was drafted to be.

After the combine results would everybody be happy if the Texans draft fell this way?

Without the pot issue , I think Rodgers would be in the conversation for the #1 overall pick .... I know I'll take heat for making that statement ..... but Im confident in my analysis.
