I was thinking about the upcoming season and as i was pondering I started to think.....when we go to play the cowgirls.....who is going to cover T.O.? What are the chances of our best defensive player (D-Rob)...doing it?

Unless it is early in the season, I predict he will be hurt by midseason or Parcells will kick is #SS for getting out of line.
 
I'm kind of looking forward to the possible butting of heads between him and Parcells. Parcells won't be affraid to slap that ******-eating grin right off his face.

No, DRob has a history of covering one side of the field. The Texans, as did a majority of teams last season, assigned their CB's to a side of the field rather than based on a priority of WR's. Personally, I like the battle of the best CB against the best WR but lately NFL coaches have not.

It's because we double man the #1 when in man coverage. Also the Defense V. Fangio ran was a left croner/right corner as far as the corners were concerned.

Regardless, it's time for D-Rob to cover the #1 in every game we play, with the exception of him blitzing. D'Angelo Hall covered T.O. in his match with the Eagles early last season. He practically shut him down. D-Rob is as good as Hall.
 
I'm not much of a T.O. fan like many others, but the truth is he'll torch our defense for at least 1 TD. Dunta will have his hands full w/ him, and in the end T.O.'s size and strength will be too much for him. Be prepared for his TD celebrations against the Texans to be replayed over and over on sportscenter.

You can wish all you want about him getting kicked off of the Cowboys, but the fact is, he got the money he wanted from Dallas, now he has something to prove to the rest of the league. Next year will be a different story, but as for this year expect him to put up the same kind of numbers he did his 1st year in Philly. It will be a long Sunday when the Cowboys and Texans meet this year, I hate to bring yall down, but that's just the way it is.

Let's hope whoever the Texans put on TO can shut down TO better than Hall--7 rec. 112 yds.

Don't get me wrong...I think D.Rob can hold his own, and I'm sure he'll win a couple of matchups against T.O. when they meet, but D'angelo Hall is also a bigger more physical corner than D.Rob, just something else to keep in mind.

Shut him down Hall did not do, T.O had like 7 receptions 100+ yards that game. But he didn't have a touchdown so, in a way, i guess it's shutting him down???

While not exactly T.O., didn't Chad Johnson talk a bunch of smack and not get anything from the Texans when we played Cincy last season?

I hope they play later in the year so our guys have a chance to gel with the new way of doing business.

Kepping that guy out of the endzone and winning the game against the Defending NFC Champs early in the season (before we knew they would struggle that season) is about as good as it gets. He shut him down.

IMO if TO had 5 catches for 65 yrd and a TD and the Eagles won then we wouldn't think that Hall shut him down. But that day was special, NFL Films have a 30 min show on how Hall shut him down that day, rather a show on that game (Game of the Week) but it expoits that match-up throughout most of the show.

Granted Bledsoe is a statue sometimes, but we'd have to get a pass rush on him 1st, just to throw his timing off much less rattle him. Texans and pass rush....LOL...now that's an oximoron if I've ever heard one.

Ohh, I'm with ya on that. We couldn't scare a school girl. But that's what it'll will take along with double coverage.
 
D-Rob and C.C brown could handle. However it will be Champ Bailey after he realizes he's in love with kubiak and demands a trade and accept to be on our team for 0.5 million.:yahoo:

How is Hall that much bigger to where its that big of a factor? Hes got Dunta by probably 15 pounds Id say. However, I wouldnt dare question Dunta's toughness, I think Dunta is every bit as tough as Hall, if not more.

I shudder to think how this would go if we still had Fangio calling the plays ... I am hoping our new DC believes in pressure.

A new saddle isn't going to make this horse any faster. Hopefully we add a pass rusher in the draft.

so you don't see Babin/Peek in the 4-3 as an upgrade in our pass rush??

How is something an upgrade when it is the same pair of players who failed to give us a pass rush in the past? We went to a ton of 4-3 looks with Peek and Babin hand down.

Good coaches put players in a position to succeed. It's my hope that these guys, especially Peek, are used according to their strengths and not shoe-horned into a need .... let Peek react and rush, don't ask him to drop into coverage any more than necessary .... :twocents:

I have a ton of games taped and rewatch them all the time. When Peek was put into a pass rushing only type situation he was mediocre most of the time. The team gave him a big tender though....so here's to blind hope that he improves in year 4 I guess.

I think the addition of Weaver is going to have an impact on this issue. We are not exactly the same as before. The question is the loss of Walker and the addition of Weaver going to be a plus or minus along with the new scheme.

Another factor mentioned has been that of training and whether are players have been exhausted by that practice. I have a more positive view at the current time, but we will have to wait and see.

If I knew, I wouldn't be ask'n....... I don't remember seeing to much of Babin/Peek in 4-3 situations. I especially don't remember seeing much of Babin on the right side.......

I have no clue how this is going to work out.. I figured you know more than I, so I asked.

Well Weaver will be our guy on 1st and 2nd and then on 3rd he will move inside sometimes, Wow here is hoping for Mario, but maybe Bush will improve our pass rush too.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are about Peek in the Arizona game. He appeared to do pretty well against Leonard Davis. He sacked warner on the first play of the game, and on the 2nd play of the game they put a TE on Peek's side to help Davis & he still go pretty good pressure. I'm pretty sure Babin got a sack on Warner for the 3rd play of the game, and that was the one that eventually ended Warner's day. I know Arizona's OLine couldn't do much when it came to blocking for the run, but they were much better when it came to pass blocking.

Obviously I would still love to see the Texans pickup Mario Williams, or even a later round guy like Tapp to help give us a better pass rush. However, I think Babin could really improve with better coaching. He's got the power to push tackles & collapse the pocket, and he's got decent speed & quickness. Peek might not be an every down DE, but he would be a great pass rushing specialist IMO.

It's like Carr tearing up the Vikings and Rams secondary and trying to build a case that Carr is going to be great. Those were his best games ever but they came against the worst defenses in the NFL.

Great point! The Cardinals have had a history of being terrible. We have to find a way to compete in our own division if we are ever going to have a shot at making the playoffs. If either one of them could put on the same kind of performance against the Colts, Jags, or Titans then I'd give them their props.
 
L. Davis is a G playing Tackle. He is much better at G. i think Peek will be ok as long as he does not have to think, and Babin I think will be suitable. Weaver dont expect much from will be happy if he gets at least 5 sacks as that would be his highest ever.

Dwayne Slay is at best Roy Williams. Hits hard, but can't cover. I was watching some games this season and wondered why people thought Buchanon wasn't a good tackler. He had bad mechanics and was caught out of place, but he he layed down the hammer. He is a corner, he's not supposed to be a great tackler. D-Rob is just a great talent.

Hall shut down Chad Johnson, not TO, I think.
 
I wasn't saying cover him, have some CB hold onto one of T.O.s ankles and then have Slay...slay him :). They say Slay is the size of a lineman if not bigger, so he can put people out cold if he can get his speed up. Thats why i refer to him as "the fridge".

Did you watch the Pittsburgh game? Buchanon stepped up and was in excellent position to tackle Parker and he let me him walk right into the end zone because he just stuck his arm out.

If Buchanon has laid the wood as a tackler, someone please tell me what game.

If I remember correctly, that was one of his problems when he was playing in Oakland.

Buchanon and Coleman had the same tackle technique last year.

TO had about 7 grabs and 80-90 yards, I'd hardly call that getting shut down, although D'Hall did get a pick. I would love to see Drob against only #1 receivers. When we played Indy in Indy he covered Marrvin Harrison and in the first half limited him to 7 yard slants, unfortunately in the second we had the blown coverage and the 50 yard TD, anyway, I liked the potential, Drob could be one of the best, with some help from his teammates.

Arizona was the number one pass offense. While not exactly dominating Orlando Pace, getting through to the QB like they did that day showed me something.

Buchanon did not have "excellent position" to tackle, he was fooled and was going to go outside. By the time he was going to go inside, he was working against too much momentum to tackle inside. Watch the Cincinnati game. He had some good tackles.
Coleman and Buchanon do not have the same tackle technique. Coleman was more of a piggyback tackler and Buchanon actually made tackles.
