Shane Ray cited

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me a kid almost got into some legal trouble leading directly up to his draft day, still went in the first, went on to contribute to his team's success, and didn't turn into the next Dion Jordan, Daryl Washington, Fred Davis, Aldon Smith, Justin Blackmon, Odell Thurman, etc. Josh Gordon, Rae Curruth, or Lawrence Phillips? Say it ain't so, that is absolute crazy talk ...

Did yall read the Roto report where some Twitter clown said the Falcons are absolutely still taking him at #8? I know it's "lying season" and all, but do yall put any stock / belief in this?

Former NFL personnel man Russ Lande tweeted Wednesday that he's heard the Falcons informed Missouri OLB/DE Shane Ray he'll be their selection in the first round.

The Falcons draft at No. 8 overall. The general feeling amongst media is Ray might fall out of round one after his pre-draft marijuana citation, but Falcons coach Dan Quinn stated Tuesday that Ray "absolutely" remains on Atlanta's draft board. Of course, staying on the Falcons' board is different than going eighth overall. We'd file this report under "interesting" pre-draft information.

The same guy also doesn't know what pick that Falcons have either claiming it to be #7 overall when it's #8, so take it FWIW

It would be sweet if Atlanta did take him at #8

Everyone knows that you keep a buddy around who will claim the weed is his. You learn that in Dope Smoking 101.

Please teach the class. I'm ignorant about Dope Smoking protocol. I made it through the 70s and beyond without ever getting high on anything including weed.

From your link

I don't think his case equates to drug possession at all, and in any case, the NFL had a real ugly year since then and things have changed on the thinking of many, imho

For those with number anxiety, .008 is one tenth (1/10th) the legal minimum limit for most jurisdictions and could easily be ascribed to any number of sources including OTC medicines as well as beverage consumption many hours prior to the test.

It does not raise a red flag for me and I'm the King of red flags.

Sorry JB. I was responding to your link and clicked on your post by mistake instead of reply.

Before Dope Smoking 101 begins the squares and narcs are weeded out, so to speak.

That explains it. I gave fair warning to my fellow students that I was a good candidate to NARC on anyone who approached me. No one chose to test my warning.

Same to you, Buddy. lol. When you get a bunch of former illegal substance users on your team you always have to worry about recidivism. Right?

Didn't we have three or four players dropped mid season for having a little party with the wacky weed last season that made a few on this board apoplectic?

You must have gone to a pretty tame HS :kitten:

Not really. It has a reputation of being pretty infested. But I had a reputation as a straight arrow with a no tolerance issue. I think the warning kept me from getting pummeled later had I been tested.

And they got caught in the team hotel. Not exactly the same thing as relaxing at home.

& that was a "team" decision, they had control of what happened to those players from that time forward. It could have been swept under the rug & we could have gone on with business as usual.

With these draft prospects, they're under the scrutiny of big brother. Any time, anywhere. They could get popped for a drug screen & their availability will be at the mercy of Lord Goodelle(sp).

As Shane Ray’s stock plummets, talk that he could fall to Round 4; LINK

Ok so their source was dead wrong. Not only did he not drop to the 4th, he still went in the first.

I still feel like he will be a premier pass rusher very soon.

OK so much for grass being legal out in Colorado, but as we know it's not legal (so to speak) for NFL players no matter where they live. I just can't see this guy going very long before he needs a pop, and sooner or later it would seem the league will catch up with him with one of their tests.
