Cosby has the best hands in college football. I really believe that.

If he wasn't 26-27 then he would be a 1st-2nd round guy.
 
Anybody watching the Senior Bowl coverage on NFLN?

Max Unger just handled BJ Raji in a 1 on 1 drill. He looks pretty nasty.
 
Well the Shrine game has come and gone meaning that the Senior Bowl is up next. Unlike the Shrine Bowl, the Senior Bowl consists of a lot more top tier talent heading into the draft. It's the perfect chance to get a last glimpse of players in uniform before the combine and pro days. I'll update this as much as possible with practice reports.

Looks like we'll have a few big RBs to choose from in the middle rounds. They all seemed to come in at good sizes except for Jeremiah Johnson who seemed to come in smaller than expected. Didn't pay too much attention to the Offensive Line, but Herman Johnson jumped out at me at 382 lbs.

Too bad the NFL uses age as a factor in the draft and I would say he is a 2nd - 3rd just based on team needs

That is impressive. The one knock I keep hearing on Mack is that he needs to get stronger. My dam dvr didnt record the first practice. The path to the draft was a joke. What waste of time. Can anyone tell me more about how Raji and Unger looked. They are my 2 favorite players. I would appreciate it.
 
I'd be ok with a Rb in mid to later rounds that will get you 3 yards within the ten yds (1st & goal). Yet, I much prefer a Shonn Green who may be there in second or a Gartrell Johnson. I first got to watch Johnson for more than a play here and there in the Shriner game and he looked good. I'll also focus on the NTs Raji and Brace. Some are indicating that Brace may go in 2nd round.

In the morning session, the north had a good cover drill that was televised. Some observations:

Macho Harris: VT: Looked real good and fought for the ball. Tight with coverage.

Keenan Lewis: Cincy: Looks like flypaper on the receiver.

Deangelo Smith: Cincy Got smoked when he played off the WR, but when he was MTM showed some nice skills.

Patrick Chung: Oregon: Safety showed some coverage skills. In the first play, Chung had perfect position but got pushed off and missed the play. In the second, Chung beat the WR handily.

Louis Delmas: Western Michigan: This safety has no cover skills.

Couple other notes:

Alex McGee: Purdue: Nice moves on this DT. Maybe someone to watch.

Ryan Shuman: VT: lood good at guard and pretty good at center.

Philip Loadholt: Oklahoma: This tackle is huge!!! Pretty much smothered everybody the went against.

we probably need the Texans to aquire a 2nd 3rd. rd. pick again for the Texans to use one on RB but I've had Jeremiah Johnson penciled in as a legitimate 3rd rd. selection. he dissapears behind the wall (lead blocker) then his cut-back explodes through the hole ala Steve Slaton. he would be a perfect compliment to spell Steve & keep each other fresh. his acceleration cannot be understated, he is a home run threat, well proportioned with quick feet in the hole & on breaks, elusive to get a clean shot on.

I was only able to catch glimpses. Raji looked freaking thick and strong but I didn't see him dominating or anything. He looked pretty good but not great. A good bull rush.

There was a kid named Jamison who looked dominant as a speed rusher. A bit undersized but he totally broke the ankles of the tackle he was going against.

Also, there was a guy, I think he was an interior lineman from Penn State ( I could be very wrong about that) who totally embarrassed a lineman from Virginia. The DL put a spin move on the guy that literally had the OL looking at and pushing against air as the DL went right around him almost untouched. The OL stood there motionless for a few moments like he was wondering where the DL went to. It was amazing. I meant to remember the kid's name but I've already forgotten it.
 
Observations from this afternoon's practice:

Antoine Caldwell: Bama: Really good looking center.

Michael Oher: Ol’Miss: Got used by a Veikune from Hawaii on the first set of downs but shut Veikune down in the second set. Veikune is a nice speed rusher, but didn’t seem to have anything else.

Lawrence Sidbury: Richmond: An unknown from a small school showed some nice quickness and made a couple of plays.

Peria Jerry, Ol’ Miss: Easily the best DT on the field.

I've liked Urbick and Mitch King. King is a little like Bouman, a quick, penetrating tweener, and Urbick held his own well. Also, Ziggy Moore was killing people the other day.

I think King is alot quicker than Bulman. Would love to get him in the later rounds and try him at DE.

You're right, he has a better 1st step. If he's there around the 4th, I jump. could rush the passer from a DT, and is a bigger DE for run downs.
 
Here's my notes from the North practice today:

BJ Raji is a freaking beast. He dominated Alex Mack and Max Unger on multiple occasions.

William Moore looked terrible in coverage. Mayock even claimed that most scouts were looking at him as a LB.

Patrick Chung looked decent in coverage and it wouldn't surprise me if he's the first safety taken.

Connor Barwin looked very quick at DE and blew past Beatty from UCONN a few times. I have no idea why they are still giving him reps at TE.

Phil Loadholt looks very slow. I thought he may slip into the first round, but I just can't see it after his poor showing.

Brian Robiskie is a very underrated prospect and I think he's at least a second rounder.

Kraig Urbik looked solid in one-on-one drills.

Mitch King looks very quick, but the big question on him is if he's better suited at DE or DT. I wouldn't mind going after him in a later round.

Larry English is very quick off the snap and has some good moves, but he may be better suited for a 3-4. He was even praised as the next Demarcus Ware.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head. I'll add more if I think of anything.

Because he's played both positions in college at the U of Cinci and he's not even sure which he'll play in the NFL. But talk about a utility type player who could free up an extra roster spot for an NFL team. Obviously his versatility might appeal to some teams.
 
It's funny how these guys like Todd McShay get their little feelings hurt when players don't want to play in their game.
 
I haven't had a chance to catch any of the practices, but hope to catch the game Saturday. Finally it's a little slow around the office so I am catching up on some Senior Bowl write-ups from Scout.com.

Monday South Team Practice (DEF) - All three USC LBs looked good with Cushing apparently looking the best:
Cushing clearly was the most impressive linebacker on the field at Monday’s practice. Cushing ran all the drills that Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio put him through with relative ease and swiftness, and Cushing was all over the field when the team went into 11 on 11 drills.

Other defensive players who did themselves good were Wake Forest CB Alphonso Smith who ran step with step with all the WRs and had a pick 6 to cap off the day, Georgia DT Corey Irvin dominated the interior, Tenn DE Robert Ayers, Richmond DE Lawerence Sidbury, Georgia Tech DT Vance Walker, Wake Forest S Chip Vaughn (whom the Texans showed interest in) showed good hands and coverage, and Mississippi S Derek Pegues. Players that didn't do themselves any good: LSU LB Darry Beckwith, who struggled with hands and agility, Maryland LB Moise Fokou, who struggled through drills, Hawaii DL David Veikune didn’t do much to stand out, and Jackson State DB Domonique Johnson displayed a shaky set of hands showing why he specializes on the defensive side of the football.

Monday South Team Practice (QBs): Harrell was the most polished showing good accuracy, footwork, and mechanics as well as timing with WRs which is rare on the 1st day of practice. The one drawback is Harrell's average arm. Rhett Bomar has the strongest arm of the three but has an odd delivery that causes inaccuracy and will need a QB coach at the next level to help him succeed. Nathan Brown was the worst and shouldn't have even been invited to participate.

Monday Senior Bowl Notes: North Team: Clint Sintim LB out of Virgina didn't have a good showing Monday as he was trying to digest the 4-3 scheme the Bengals run, Sintim is more fit for a 3-4 and in some mocks he is going at 25 to the Dolphins. Missouri DT Evander Hood had a good showing pulling an insane spin move on Mack and had an outstanding day on Monday. Connecticut OT Williams Beatty is said to be the best athlete at the tackle position in Mobile but needs to build some strength to make an impact at the next level. P Kevin Huber also impressed with a few 60+ yard bombs and is projected to be the first punter taken in the draft.

Monday: North Team: One of the most impressive players was mammoth LSU guard Herman Johnson. Despite being huge Johnson showed surprising agility and was commended often by Jaguars offensive line coach Andy Heck.

Crouching down next to Johnson was Ole Miss left tackle Michael Oher, and put forth his usual dominating performance that figures him to be a top-ten draft pick.

The most impressive pass catcher was certainly USC wide receiver Patrick Turner. The giant 6’5”, 220 lb. pass catcher easily blew by defensive backs while running seamless routes. Turner showed the most consistent hands of any wideout in practice, and made the highlight catch of the day as he reeled in a deep ball down the sideline throw from Alabama’s John Parker Wilson.

Another big pass catching target was Conference USA star tight end, Shawn Nelson (Southern Miss). The 6’5” target consistently caught everything thrown his way, and he turned the heads of several scouts with his overall hands, route running, and consistency.

Georgia’s Mohamed Massaquoi followed up his zero catch Capital One Bowl showing by displaying inconsistent hands for much of the day. Late addition, University of Arizona wideout Mike Thomas appeared nervous as he dropped plenty of passes.

Alabama tight end Travis McCall, and N.C. State tight end Anthony Hill may have had the worst days of any of the tight ends, as they each dropped more passes than they caught. The only representative from the BCS champion Florida Gators, tackle Jason Watkins had a tough time at right tackle, where he didn’t look comfortable at all, and showed poor footwork.

And that wraps up Monday's day, I will try and summarize consistent players and maybe a few late round prospects the Texans should look at.
 
I was out of town all freakin week. Does anyone know if NFLN's going to replay the game? Or practices?

IIRC, they did last year, right? :thinking:
