San Antonio Saints

I like that San Antonio Desperados, Texans/Cowboys with an edge texanpride

Yeah but it still makes sense to call them the Saints with the Alamo being an old Catholic Church and the city itself being named after a Saint itself. I think the team colors would go over well being black and gold with the Spurs Black and Silver.

Ha Ha!

Believe it or not, there actually is a Jackonsville, Texas.
Lol .. yeah, I found out early on when I moved to Texas, that pretty much every city and town in the country can be found in this BIG state. :D

Saints....Desperados....Crocketts....69ers.....don't matter. Desperados sounds better anyway.

It's better than the San Antonio Texans. (So I moved the Texans there in my Madden game; I was bored.)

Since the majority of NFC games are shown on the same network (Fox at this time), you will hear an uproar from Cowboy's fans in San Antonio. Why? Here is when the Cowboys will be shown:

1. When the "Saints" have a BYE week (assuming Dallas has a different one).

2. Weeks when Saints are at home:
a. If the Saints fail to sell out 72 hours in advance (could happen), but probably not the first couple of seasons.
b. If either the Saints or Cowboys play a night game.
c. If they are playing one another
d. If the Cowboys are against an AFC team in Dallas and they play at a different time than the Saints
e. If the Saints are playing at home against an AFC team and they play at a different time than the Cowboys

3. Weeks when the Saints are on the road:
a. If the NFC network (Fox right now) has a doubleheader and the Saints and Cowboys play at different times (assumes Cowboys not hosting an AFC team).
b. If either the Saints or Cowboys play a night game.
c. If they are playing one another
d. If the Cowboys are hosting an AFC team

Lets assume for a second that San Antonio sold out every game. The Cowboys would probably only be on t.v. about 6 times a year on the average. Can you imagine the hate calls that would generate?

One thing to remember and it is something I saw alot of when I went to our game against Minnesota. There were alot of young kids that were from different cities in Texas that came to watch the Texans because they became their favorite team, either through the players or the little league team they played for. In fact, one of those kids sat in front of me and he was from San Antonio. We have the new generation of youngsters that never even saw Dallas win in the 90s let alone know anything about the 70s or Tom Landry.

Having a team in SA would lose alot of that future fan support. Except for my family as I just found out we are having another El Tejano in December. They will bleed deep steel blue.

I find this thread funny...the commissioner has already said in his state of the league address that he wants a team in LA. Anaheim has a stadium plan either ready or near completion. The Saints are going to LA if they go anywhere. San Antonio is a wonderful, vibrant city but they aren't getting an NFL team anytime soon. Somebody is playing with San Antonio on this one. Kind of like Bud did when he started his plans to move the Oilers. Didn't he go to several cities and show interest in moving there? That's the same vibe I get from all this San Antonio talk....it's just talk.

THE NFL TRYING TO SURVIVE IN ANOTHER MILITARY TOWN..ANOTHER JAX...MAYBE A SOCCER TEAM WILL DO MUCH BETTER THAN PRO FOOTBALL IN SAN ANTONIO. : :goodnight

I REALIZE TOM BENSON IS FROM SAN ANTONIO, BUT HE DIDN'T BECOME RICH BY BEING STUPID. WHY WOULD HE PASS UP THE THE SECOND LARGEST TV MARKET IN THE LAND TO MOVE HIS TEAM TO SLEEPY SAN ANTONIO? :dangit:
