San Antonio Getting a NFL Team?

San Antonio fans are used to the perfection of the Spurs. How are they going to deal with the Saints and perpetual sub-mediocrity? Besides that, the Saints need to say in the city they belong to. Leaving New Orleans permanently just isn't right. But the most important reason is that the Saints need to take their sorry butts home as soon as they can because THEY INTERRUPT MY FREAKING TEXANS GAMES AND I'D KILL SOMEBODY OVER IT IF THE TEXANS WERE ACTUALLY WORTH WATCHING THIS YEAR!!!!! :brickwall

:texflag:

I've heard Tagliabue say that they are not interested in moving a team to another small city market like San Antonio. It is either going to be New Orleans or LA. They are going to play a few games in the Superdome next season.

Problem lies in the fact that New Orleans quite possibly wont be able to support an NFL franchise anytime in the near future .... prior to Katrina the population was around 490,000 . Many will not return ..... many business will not return .

Sure there will be oil and shipping in the area but those companies will likely move their financial and corporate bases elsewhere . This is where the money comes from , not from the casual fan .

They'll probably end up in Los Angeles ..... give them a 3rd chance to fail

Thats true the New Orleans population was around 490,000 and about half aren't expected to return, but the New Orleans metro area was well over a million and most of them are staying. So far about 1/3 of businesses in New Orleans are open with more opening every single day and more people are returning every day. The city is in bad shape, but not nearly as bad of shape that the media is making it look.

I can remember when the Spurs were one of the worst teams in the NBA.

I think the saints will be playing next season in SA-Permanently As I speak. They need to move away from New Orleans as it tries to re-build.

Hmmm......lets look at the numbers here.

Population of Los Angeles and surrounding counties: about 18 Million people
Plus tons of large corporations, constant National Media hub.

The Entire State of Texas: 22.5 million people
Already as two NFL teams.

Will the NFL put a team is the thirld largest city in the state of Texas or the Second largest city in the country. That is a no brainer. SA isn't going to get a team. at least not in our life times.

The only good thing the Saints moving to SA would do is open up tickets for me to buy because all the fair weathers here would become Saints fans.

I have never seen a fair weather fan of a 1-12 team, they have already left.

San Antonio is the second largest city in this state. Dallas is third. Now, the Dallas metroarea is larger. I guess that's why they're really the Irving Cowboys?

I agree with you though, that I doubt that SA will get the team. The NFL craves the LA market, despite the fact they've failed to support a team twice already.

I couldn't care less if NOLA gets to keep their team. That city's been exposed for the cesspool it is, and their conduct gave the nation a huge black eye in international news. Whether they have a football team or not should be the least of their worries.

You're so kind. Many people lost their lives and everything they own in that "cesspool" as you call it.

personally, I'm biased because Im from San Antonio, but I would LOVE the Saints to come. The fact that football would be in SA Town would outweight the poor play of the Saints. Im sure if the team got better progressively and showed lots of improvement that fans wouldnt mind as well.

A football team in San Antonio would never work, they would have a hard time selling out every week. You got too many Cowboys fans there anyway, they are not going to start rooting for a new team...

The Alamo-barn is needs to be brought up to NFL standards....The city is not going to pay for improvements on the stadium and I know Tom Benson isn't either. He has a sweet deal with New Orleans anyway, i think N.O. pays for unsold tickets or something....

I know there are better people than what we saw on TV during the disaster but did the people of NO show anything for me to feel bad for them? Not really. I feel for hard working people who lost everything, but I hear about some who still draw free room and board and suck money from FEMA's teet. His opinion has merrit as does yours but you have to see both sides. This city needs to rebuild its important structures befor it worries about a pro team. The owner has the right to want to move to try and keep his bussiness in tact.

There are bad people in every city and every neighborhood. Not a good time in my opinion to be hating on New Orleans or its citizens. JMO. If people want to call it a cesspool and talk about lowlifes there then they can. I don't want the guy to not be able to share his opinion anymore than I would not want mine expressed. I don't get the hate. Just the way I feel.
