Ryquel Armstead from Temple may be worth back taking a look at in this year's draft. Solid results at combine.

The results have been achieved in the latest sleepwear. Combine results could make a mouse look like a cat. Look at film to determine if he is a football player first, then Combine results second to determine his athletic ability......see if the results run parallel.

Agreed.

Most good scouting staffs should already have all the info they need on players.

Combine is mostly used to verify what they already know.

Once in a blue moon unheraled prospects do show up.

Sure. But guys who haven't shown ability to play football didn't get an invite in the first place. All of these guys have produced in college. Some more than others. All of these guys will get a chance to play in the NFL. The combine just helps teams determine who has the best chance. Not the complete picture, but a piece of the puzzle.

Case in point, the RB from Temple. Not from a power 5 conference and not as many opportunities as other backs. But the combine gives teams a look at him vs a RB from say Georgia, and ask themselves "What would this guy have done at Georgia?"

He didn't get recruited by Georgia for a reason. A RB could look lights out at the Combine but how was his vision when the pads were on and defenses were coming after him? He did that at his level of competition, how does that play out when defenses are faster and bigger? Can his brain process the situation fast enough so he's a Foster and not a Blue.

Combine is just another tool to let teams know if maybe they should look at more film. Anything more is fan generated

Walter Payton and Jerry Rice would disagree with this post.

Combine & reports mean way too much to some of us

The combine is a piece of the puzzle. It's another chance for evaluators to see how relatively small school guys and backups like Stick/McLaurin compare to guys like Metcalf/Haskins.

It also gives the teams medical staff a chance to look at where a guy like Lov is in his recovery from his ACL or a WR like Hall who was injury prone looks like after seeing his MRI and poke/prod him to get a feel for maybe why he suffers from soft tissue injuries.

Plus the most important thing is decision makers getting a chance to talk to guys for the 1st time and hopefully get a feel for the prospects personality/work ethic. If I was Gaine I would also have a psychologist in the interview room with me.

I'm beginning to come around to Myles Sanders the RB out of Penn St. He's 5'11" and 211 lbs and ran a 4.49 Forty with a 36" Vertical Jump and a 6.89 second 3 Cone Drill at the Combine. But, more than his stats was the way he ran, smooth and quick in his breaks during the Field Drills. He will probably be moving up the draft boards but if the Texans could somehow get him he could be a very good replacement for Blue, and eventually, even Miller.
