Round 3 Comments

Cheek doesn't play for them anymore...I'm still not sure if we got a 7th rounder for him...

Yeah I know Cheeks doesn't play for them anymore, but we still did get the 7th Rounder for him I believe. I think Cheeks either signed with the Panthers or Giants recently. The Panters signed Tom Rouen, and are likely to dump their "all star" punter Sauerbrun.

Like Berman said, ANYBODY can get 1000 yards in Denver. Clarett has NO excuses left. Succeed or grab that mop bucket, son...a rewarding career in sanitation engineering awaits!

most profiles have him closer to 4.67 and around that. many say that some cons are open field speed and his lack of ability to hit a 2nd gear. i think after getting a recking-ball of a nose we should have shifted to beefing up the o-line to protect Carr and open holes for DD. if nothing else we should have gotten a line backer to replace Jaime Sharper.

The reason most profiles show his in that range is because they are using his combine time, and he had a hammy. Tell me this time next year that Dom Davis is a faster runner than Morency. :heh:

Here are some parts from some profiles on the web. I think they back up my assertion that this guy will eventually be our feature back. Time will tell, but I am juiced about this pick myself.

Morency has feature back potential, he has outstanding explosiveness and speed and his receiving ability will raise his stock as well. If he improves his lower body strength and starts to run better between the tackles, he'll be one of the better backs in the league. He should go sometime in the 2nd Round.

Morency has less than 500 carries in his career, which is about 700 less than Cedric Benson of Texas. He has good size and the enough speed to make him a threat to score anytime he touches the football. He became the first OSU running back to rush for more than 200 yards in consecutive games since 1996. He displays good vision, hits the hole hard, and is extremely elusive in the open field.

Here is his official website - Verand Morency

Giants got Tuck

Now I know how all the Horns fans feel about us passing on Johnson. This Irish fan really wanted us to get Tuck. Guess Cass. and Dom decided we already had enough 'tweener' linebackers. Hopefully we can find someone tomorrow that we can groom to play center.
I hear that Clev. is dissappointed with Faine? Maybe we can arrange to take him off of their hands. :woot

Interesting side note:

Casserly is STILL in the draft room at 11pm (via webcam). Only guy there.

That's dedication

Would you expect anything less?

Probably reviewing his gameplan for Day 2 of the draft. Some people may not like his picks, but the guy pours his heart and soul into this team.

I've been happy with Cass ever since teh AJ draft, after then I put alot fo faith into Cass. Guy loves the NFL and this team.

gotta question him after todays picks.. I'll take their word on Travis Johnson but it really better work out with him.... I like the Morency pick a very good back, but there were other people we could have used too.. Marion Barber might have been better..

although they threw us a curve ball we did pick 2 decent players and will have an extra pick next year. we basically got 2 solid starters on defense (buchanon and johnson) and another back to compete with DD.

I think the 4th round we look at elton brown, i had him as the number 1 guard cause Baas would move to center. if he is there in the 4th our offensive line will be improved.

Oh no, a running back? ok, now I'm a little worried. True all teams can use a few good running backs, but that was not our weakest point. In fact, we are fairly set at running back. What about left tackle? what about a line backer? what about our D-line? Come on now guys. YEs, we have a very strong secondary, but we can't pressure the pass. We can't protect Carr. What's going on here?!?!?

T-Bolt by any chance? I have a close family member who spent several years in VMFA-251. In fact, I may have 'spoken' to you before but I just don't recognize the handle.

Anyway, the Texans were in a precarious position at RB. DD is a good RB but there's nothing behind him if he goes down. Hollings is not a between the tackles guy and Wells will give you one Raider like game a year among a dizzying array of 2-3 yard carries. I like the Morency pick.

The Texans are in a precarious position at offensive tackle as well. Behind Wand and Wade we have Garrick Jones and <drumroll please> Chad Beasley. Who? Moving Pitts back to tackle if Wand is injured is not an ideal chain of personnel move events I would like to see started.

As far as Travis Johnson, I was surprised like most people but the fact that we just got one of the top rated interior defensive linemen in the draft is a very good thing. That's another unit that desperately needed an infusion of youth.

I guess the front office didnt have LB as a pressing need in the draft this year which makes me think that Peek will be starting opposite Babin. To leave DJ on the board for a 3rd next year and to leave Blackstock on the board when they could have maybe gotten Ciatrick Fason later on makes me even wonder if they may just want LB depth. A lot of comments on here were aimes towards the Texans getting an OLB/DE Tweener. Seems wierd and no WR either.... I guess the jury will be out on these selections :hmmm:

Nope, I'm Gerry. I was here under a different name last season, but I couldn't remember my info to sign on. it was like Texans_fan_away_from_home or something like that. Anyway, stationed in Beufort, SC right now. FResh beck from Iraq and headed back soon.

SO I WANT A GOOD SEASON THIS YEAR!

I'm sorry but morrency was the weirdest pick of the day....even more so than tj. He's like 25 already. Character issues....but then again they are tossing around that phrase like salad these days.

We still are pressed at OL, S, ILB.....why are we drafting for DEPTH?

I'm not happy with the draft at all but then again i dont scoutn 365 so we'll see when the season starts.
