Roderick Johnson-OT Fla. St.

Wolf6151

All Pro
I think it's time we start listing and keeping an eye on certain players for the 2017 draft. Many here, myself included, believe OT could be our 1st round pick so let's start looking at some possibilities. I'm projecting the Texans will be drafting in the mid 20's and Cam Robinson will be gone. Roderick Johnson is currently listed by CBS as #24 overall, I realize this will change.

Pros:
Prototypical build, 6'06" 308 lbs. with long arms and big hands.
Very good but not elite athleticism, you can see the potential in this guy.
Quick reactions and uses his hands well.
Good run blocking, strong, drives his defenders back and seals the end of the D-line well.
Good footwork, slides laterally well but needs a little work here.

Cons:
Needs to quit bending at the waist so much and start bending his knees.
Needs to quit lunging at defenders.

Opinions?

I'll be watching this Sat beginning at 11AM vs Louisville, ought to be a good one. Thanks for the heads up and I agree, LT is #1 in the draft agenda

I'm not a big fan of his.

Johnson doesn't play to his talent level

He does have the ability to play LT in the NFL but he needs to be coached up. Where is Alex Gibbs when you need him. Johnson will probably need to start out at RT or OG before moving to LT. IMHO

Vanderbilt's Zac Cunningham ESPN has him at OLB but is great playing ILB. He is on ACCN vs Georgia Tech Saturday. Also there is this guy whom I have not watched.
Riley Bullough- 6’1”#230- Michigan State- Sr- from a football family. Riley is tough, physical player who is smaller but faster(started career at MSU as RB) than older brother Max a former Spartan and now Houston Texan LB. Led team with 106 tackles in 2015 while racking up 2nd team All-Big Ten honors. Bullough is an instinctive player who displays quick play recognition which allows him, to be effective in both the run and passing games. Run and hit player.

I agree with this, Johnson either isn't taking the coaching that's given to him or he just isn't being coached properly. I can see the raw athletic talent in this kid and with some proper coaching he could be very good but right now he looks like a mid round prospect and not the 1st round talent that CBS has him listed at. He definitely needs work, and I agree with starting him at RT and then moving him to LT.

I agree he looks like a slightly above average college tackle but mid round draft. He just doesn't move well for me. As of now, he would seem to be at best a right side of line player in NFL.
