They all have a lot of risk, as everyone who is picked at #1 does. I don't know if I could say that any of these guys are the most "sure" pick or carry any less risk than anyone else, probably someone at less of a skill position like D'Brick or Mario would have a little less chance of being considered a failure, especially if a trade-down is included in the deal and the additional picks are used wisely.

I agree with you.

If our situation was our Offense and defense wasn't in shambles i'd say Bush.
but unless our OL gets fixed we'd ruin Bush and Vince and their talent wouldn't shine through.. granted we can run block but what is Bush going to do going against 8 in the box or even Vince?

now if Gary can get our OL turned around quickly that is a different story.

I went defensive line ...granted not flashy, but Brick was another choice but I believe our interior line is the weakness not LT

its tough to make a pick here... if I was forced to.. id pick Dbrick..because even if he doesnt make it as an LT, he will most likely still be a good RT.

Hawk and Lienart would be second on my list probably.. both of them are polished prospects, but the position they play makes their chances of success less of a sure thing. Followed closely by both Bush and Mario

Next would be Vince.. lots of upside.. but he is so raw and unready for the pros. It also worries me that the coaches at Texas were unable to make him a more traditional QB.. he will have to become one to succeed in the NFL, or the offense he goes to will have to make drastic changes for him (like Vick).

last would be Jimmy Williams who supposedly has character issues, and isnt a real elite prospect to begin with.

I should also mention that I like Bush and Mario the best. I think that they have the right amount of risk vs. reward to be a #1 pick(well..maybe not Mario..but he is in the same mold as Bush.. lots of talent, but questions of whether or not he can take it to the next level. He is a top 5 pick though). Neither are sure things.. but if either of them DO translate well to the NFL..they are the type of players that will become household names.

In terms of the safest pick, it is easily AJ Hawk IMO. He will be good at the very least. Despite opinions to the contrary, there is still a lot of risk with taking Bush, Young, or Lineart. Even Ferguson is questionable because of his light size. I have seen too many highly rated pass-rushers bomb (Courtney Brown, Mike Mamula, etc.) to automatically expect Mario Williams to succeed. I also think, though, that several of those guys have substantially more potential to alter a team's destiny than Hawk.

I would have voted in this poll but, "There is no such thing as a sure thing" was not one of the options.

I completely missed Hawk on the thing

Could you imagine what the board would be like if we traded down to say #4 and VY is still there and didn't take him still :stirpot:

hehe yah ive thought about that.. the uproar would be incredible.. I would leave the board until week 1

Would it be a good idea to trade the pick to GB for Driver and their #5 and maybe another pick or 2 and take Eric Winston with that pick if Ferguson isn't available??
