NFL concedes mistakes by officials
By Mark Zuckerman
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs yesterday expressed displeasure with a pair of officiating calls in Washington's 21-18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, and the NFL responded by conceding its crew made two mistakes.
A club source said league officials reviewed the two plays in question — a pass interference call on Redskins cornerback Walt Harris in the first quarter, and a no-call on a deep pass to Rod Gardner in the fourth quarter. The league conceded error in both cases.

You know this happens too much. What does sorry do? Nothing. You lost to this team by a FG. but you would have won if we made a call that removed your touchdown... sorry.

I wish there was a way to review calls like that but I know that everytime a pass interference is called teams will be throwing out the flag...

I would have chosen "could have won" because the Cowboys possibly would have still done whatever heroics necessary to win. We were playing the Redskins. lol:

However, I agree that not only in football, but sorry is a sorry word when someone has a chance win at their chosen profession, and someone whether by an honest mistake or a well thoughtout plan should not be able to make decisions beyond challenge.

So, what do you want to happen? The officials made a mistake.....it happens in every sport and whinning by the coach that is effected is just "sour grapes" and shows poor sportsmanship. You sure did not hear Gibbs complain when the Redskins had to settle for a field goal when they had 1st and goal on the one yard line. That's a four point difference if they scored a touchdown. And, didn't they lose by three points? Suck it up and deal with it, Redskins!!

The refs are going to make mistakes and every team will eventually have games where they lose points and even games because of errors made or non-calls. Reverse that and you'll win games by the same errors.
