The Redskins have completed a trade with the Denver Broncos that brings them the 25th overall pick in this weekend's NFL draft. The trade gives the team two picks in the first round (No. 9 and No. 25) on Saturday.
In return for Denver's 25th pick, the Redskins have given the Broncos' this year's third-round pick (76th overall) and the Redskins first- and fourth-round selections in the 2006 draft.

The Redskins' list of selections for the April 23-24 draft now consists of the 9th and 25th pick in the first round; a fourth-round pick (112 overall); a sixth-round pick (183 overall); and a seventh round pick (222 overall).

That's a very good trade for the Broncos, since they were looking to move out of the first anyway...The Redskins will likely be picking in the mid teens next year, and the Broncos should be too, so they'll have a very good opportunity to improve their team next year...

Washington will likely take a CB and either a DE or WR in the first, then trade Gardner for a 3rd rounder and pick whichever they couldn't get in the first...

This comes from Yahoo Sports, and it seems to me that they're usually the last to know this sort of stuff. However, they've got a story that says the Redskins have obtained Denver's 1st Round pick this year by trading away their 3rd Round pick this year, plus their 1st and 4th Round picks next year (2006).

Redskins add another first-round pick

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Hours after declaring they wouldn't trade their ninth overall selection in Saturday's NFL draft, the Washington Redskins acquired another first-round spot, the 25th overall, from Denver on Tuesday.

The Broncos received the Redskins' third-round choice (76th overall) this year, plus Washington's first-rounder and fourth-rounder in 2006.

The trade should enable the Redskins to address dire needs at cornerback and wide receiver, both strong positions in this draft.

*Edit* Just realized Steel Blue Texans posted this about 10 minutes earlier.

I think Troy Williamson is gone by 9 then, and they may pick up Fabian, Marlin, or J.Miller????

Or Pac-man at 9 and Roddy White at 25.

Or they could just use that as ammunition to get Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams. I hope this shakes up the draft a little bit so Pac-Man, Ced Benson, or DJ falls to us. :)

I think Williamson will still be there since Williams and Edwards will likely go ahead of him. Either way they'll be in a good spot to pick up a WR or CB with those two picks.

If the redskins pick a qb in the first round they are some fools.

It sounds like the redskins are getting mighty desperate but to me their actions seem to say re-building mode.

First, I hope I don't get my thread pulled for calling Redskins BAD, but Gibbs better win this year ot this transaction will cost them dearly. They are giving Denver a 1st, 3rd and 4th. For example, if 6-10 next season, Denver getting top 15 pick in addition to 4th rounder. Sweet deal for Denver.

Anybody think it's a possibility that they trade up with their two first rounders to get a guy like Mike Williams or Antrel Rolle?

There's a slim possibility that Antrel Rolle might be available at #9, so a trade-up wouldn't be needed. Despite his recent stock fall, i think they take Pac-Man Jones this yr, and than Roddy White or Mark Clayton at 25.

It's a pretty good deal for Denver but...

They usually discount next years pick by one round... So Washington is giving up this years 3rd and we'll keep that as a 3rd and next's years 1st but that will discount to a 2nd and next years 4th and that will discount to a 5th... if it were this years picks. So if the picks were this year it would be like a 2nd, 3rd and 5th for a 1st round pick. Houston gave up more last year (2nd, 3rd, 4th and switched to a later 5th) to move up to about the same place in the first roiund.

So this year it's not a terrible trade for Washington. If Washinton grabs Pac Man or Rolle and Mark Clayton they will be happy... Next year they will miss that first round pick...

Either Joe Gibbs is completely desperate to win immediately or the Redskins are trying to trade up and get a Smith, Rodgers, or Edwards. Poor Joe. Either way.

I doubt it because when you think about it, they'd actually be giving up 3 first round picks to move up from the 9th position.

But hey, it's the Redskins so you never know.

First the Portis/Bailey trade and now this. BWUHAHAHAHA.

It's sad that the Skins have become the laughing stock of the NFL...If they take Campbell, they'll likely cut Brunell (horrible cap hit) and rumor is they might cut Ramsey too...Great move, Snyder...
