Police in Lincoln are investigating an alleged rape that reportedly took place between 2:15 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. at the Lincoln home of
Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong and wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, a 20-year-old woman showed up to a Lincoln hospital around 2:30 p.m. Sunday and reported the alleged assault. The woman said she knew the suspect and the suspect has been contacted, but no arrests have been made, according to police officer Katie Flood.
Armstrong told the
World-Herald that he, Westerkamp and fellow Nebraska player Trey Foster were all interviewed by police Sunday, but did not indicate who the woman was allegedly with or if she was at the house that night.
"After talking to us, [the police] said you guys should be fine," Armstrong
said to the Omaha World-Herald.
"I don't know why [the alleged victim] said that," Armstrong said. "We're confused about the whole situation. From what we're hearing, everything was consensual."
Armstrong said he and his teammates returned home at 12:30 a.m. Sunday and were partying following the Huskers' road win over Rutgers.
The Nebraska athletic department said it is cooperating with the investigation, but has no further comment at this time on the alleged incident.
