The middle linebacker position has been a haven for 2nd round steals in recent years and 2007 may not be any different. Overall, the position has just one player with a first round grade but there is some talent to be found in the later rounds.
1. Patrick Willis, Mississippi - The best linebacking prospect inside or outside in the draft. Willis has good size (6′1, 242) and ran a remarkable 4.39 40 at his pro day. Very productive player who thrives at stopping the run. Can rush the passer and make plays sideline to sideline. Gives great effort and a solid character guy.
2. David Harris, Michigan - A prototypical 2-down run stuffing middle linebacker. Shows good anticipation and flows to the football. Good tackler who plays with a high motor. Looks uncomfortable in coverage.
3. Bradon Siler, Florida - He looks the part at 6′1 240 but has failed to display his athleticims at the combine and during his pro day. Plays with good instincts and tracks down ball carriers. Good tackler. High energy player who is a leader on the field.
4. Buster Davis, Florida State - The film shows a tremendous middle linebacker who is constantly around the football. Extremely productive college player who plays with good instincts. He could last til the 3rd round because he lacks ideal size. He’s a 5′9 wrecking ball. Some compare him to former Saint and Panther Sam Mills
