raiders trying to trade up to #1

http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

We'd previously heard that Tom Condon's primary selling point in attracting USC quarterback Matt Leinart was Condon's plan to get either the Titans or the Jets to strike a trade up in the draft with the Texans for the No. 1 overall pick, which then would be used on Leinart.

Condon already has achieved partial success. Sort of.

We're told that the Titans and the Jets have contacted Texans G.M. Charley Casserly regarding the price tag for a trade. But not in an effort to get Leinart.

Instead, these two teams -- along with the Raiders -- have contacted the Texans in the hopes of possibly landing Leinart's teammate, tailback Reggie Bush.

The development is somewhat surprising, in light of recent speculation that Bush might not even be the first guy picked.

Although there's plenty of misinformation floating around in the days leading up to the draft, we've got no reason to question our source on this one. So, as always, stay tuned.

this suck as a raiders fan i want defense not a RB

raiders are more than likely to trade down, not trade up. they don't want a QB. denver could make a move.

Funny cause the Raiders has lacked the decent running attack in the last 3 years.

If the Raiders are smart. They will go for Matt Leinert. Who I am kidding, Al davis will pick Matt if he is still on the board. Matt is about a split image of Hoffstetler/Gannon

LaMont Jordan had 1600 yards last season total. Wouldn't call that lacking a running attack.:)

Thank you, why reggie as a raiders fan i dont want him, vince or matt i want defense.

This is (how do I say this politley) not something to believe.

The Raiders rumor was an April Fools joke. I researched it and found it to be a hoax. I unmasked it at texanstalk.com where Joe Texan started up a thread on the Raiders rumor. Looked real, but I went to Raiders message board, saw where a few fans were discussing it....went to the supposed page where it all looked like a real ESPN page, but it turned out to be a forgery.

Texans will take Bush number 1. I don't know how any GM of any NFL team could look at Bush's highlights from high school AND college, and give serious thought to trading this guy to (A) A divisional rival--Tennessee-- or (B) An AFC team--Raiders or Jets--whom we'll face more often than an NFC team.

Take a gander at the video highlights of Bush I posted in two separate threads in this forum. I'm beginning to think we're entering a new era of NFL football with our Texans. Dude is a freak. F-R-E-A-K.

"And with the number pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the Houston Texans select___________________."

I wanted to trade down and get 'Brick...but the Saints screwed that up when they got a veteran QB and now hold the trade card in their hands for teams wanting to grab Leinart or Young. So...I'm accepting that Bush is our guy.

Time to unify and join the ranks, guys and gals.

Raiders aren't giving anything because the Texans are going to draft him at number 1.

Stop worrying.

Hmmmmmm...OK.

If all this is true, and the Texans have MULTIPLE teams wanting to throw them the moon and the stars for Reggie Bush...it only serves to make the Texans decision makers sit up and realize they have captured lightning in a bottle, and it's name is Reggie Bush.

So I look at all this buzz by other teams, and it makes me think that in the end it just proves to the Texans decision makers that they have their guy in Reggie Bush.

How could the Texans pass on this guy, and then live with themselves when the team Reggie Bush goes to is winning like every team Bush has been on? The Texans would be laughed at MORE for trading the pick, in my opinion, than keeping him and running the risk that he doesn't perform as expected.

I've never seen a group of fans trying to talk themselves out of taking the top player in a draft at #1. Sometimes, you don't complain and you don't ask questions. This is one of those times.

I wouldn't worry about anything. The Texans aren't stupid enough to pass him up and Reggie isn't stupid enough to not agree to a deal with the Texans. I think he knows how much money he will lose by not being the #1 pick. Getting $10 million less than he wants is a lot better than getting $30 million less than he wants.

read it, its not for a qb its for a RB by the name of reggie bush
i'm aware. i was simply knocking down both rumors with one stone. trading up for bush is ridiculous, no reason to even discuss it.

Try this on for size and see if it fits:

Let's pretend you're the Texans front office.

You're worried that maybe Bush is not what he seems.

You begin to entertain Mario Williams, and you plant fake stories about how "we're just not sure anymore that Bush is automatically our guy...."

The seed is planted. The flood gates open. Teams are suddenly throwing themselves at your mercy, offering ANYTHING to get the guy. Why? Because until now, you've not even flinched...you've stated in certain ways that Bush is our guy, we're not dealing. But, hey...maybe he's not our guy. Maybe we "need" to trade out for some reason. And teams are beating down your doors for a draft day trade.

Then you've just proven to yourself that teams want Bush more than anybody else, and they're even willing to sell the farm NEXT YEAR just to get this Bush guy.

I no but if one guy can get this dont its Al davis he will slap anyone in his way hes always been like that.

Hey, maybe Bush is all that and you guys want to give him up for crap.

Maybe Bush is all that, maybe he will be a huge bust, maybe he will trip getting out of the shower and never play again... maybe, maybe, maybe.

The front office must do what is best for the future of the franchise, and that means considering each and every player on the board, and every offer for a trade that comes across the table.

BTW gpshafer_1976... your comment
"Time to unify and join the ranks, guys and gals."

I think this moment comes just after the bit that goes with the #1 pick in the Draft the Houston Texans select.....

Once we have a guy I will be 100% behind him, till then I will champion whichever player or trade I think will serve the team the best. So till that time I will champion Super Mario :superman:

The raiders organization is a retirement home for nfl players, until they get rid of al davis.:stirpot:

Thats why we have been to fives SB's and won three with Mr.davis can you say that??

Lamont Jordan rocks. I really wanted him to come here.

I dunno what is gonna happen on draft day. last week bush was a lock.. now.. who knows.

Im hoping we will either take bush.. or get a sweet tradedown deal and still land Mario Williams.

Either of these scenarios would tweak my rod.

lol....can you say 'texans have been a team for all of 4 years.'

it doesnt matter al davis is one of a kind and there are many teams that still dont have a lombardi or have not made it to a SB so dont give me the 4 years thing

I personally don't give a damn about the other teams who haven't made it to the super bowl....thats why I'm in a HOUSTON TEXAN message board. So since i care about the HOUSTON TEXANS....the '4 year thing' means everything. Anyways i don't even really understand what your post exactly means....the comparison your making with other teams never being to the Super Bowl....and for some reason us only playing for 4 years doesn't somehow matter....well the comparison doesn't even make sense.

ok i dont care but is that bo jacksons throw back in your avatar? if so do you like the raiders to?

Yeah actually i like the organization. And truthfully wouldn't mind a guy like Al Davis in our organization....and Bo Jackson was the best athlete of all time.

The last time we made a deal with the Raiders we got hustled into P-Buc. If I'm Bob McNair, any time an Oakland number shows up on the Caller ID, I'd let the machine take the call.
