Just like to get your ideas on something that bothers me. I'm not a mod & hate to be the BB police, but.... somethings annoy me & I want to get your opinions.

Let's say a fellow poster copies material from another source & posts it here. Do you think said poster should use the "quote" feature of this board to present that information so that you, the reader, are not confused about who is saying what. For instance:
Every year I make it my mission in life to come up with new and creative ways to show the sack stat is the most abused one out there.Sure, for some people it can be a reward for consistent play, but many others benefit from people caring too much about a small sample size, or, in some cases, players are punished because people don’t pay enough attention to what they actually do on the field.

Personally I don't know if it's the poster who makes it his mission in life, or the author of the article especially since the link is posted at the bottom of the post. Had he done this instead:

Then it is clear that it is not the OP's opinion. It's a little thing, with the difficulty of online asynchronous communication I think it would help us determine what we are trying to say, where we stand, & what our opinion is in such a manner. In the OP, the OP doesn't even state an opinion & is just sharing information. That's much easier to determine if he'd have used the tools provided.

What do you think?

TK, I understand your point but I am more interested in the info than if poster agrees or it is his opinion. I try to use "IMO" for my posts. ALso, I don't know how (separate issue) to multi quote from different posts in my post.

Both posts are just sharing info. The first one looks simpler/cleaner and you can just click the link to see that it's info from the link. I understand your point but if I wanted to add an opinion, couldn't I would just put the opinion outside of the quote box?

You could, but the original post doesn't use the quote box. It's just a bunch of text copied from the alternate source. I'm saying that material should be in a quote box.

ALso, I don't know how (separate issue) to multi quote from different posts in my post.

It's easy, move the cursor to where you want the quoted material to be, then click on the qoute tool (looks like a speach ballon) at the top of the window, right next to the icon you click to insert a picture. Then paste your material. Or, you can paste your material, then highlight it, & click the quote icon.

I know it'll end up being something simple that I'm just not getting, but what the heck is matrial? Sorry, not trying to be grammar or spelling nazi, but I honestly have no idea what you mean.

Well, this is what I have to say about it:

I try to differentiate quoted material from my own by either changing text color or using the quote box or both. I add a link, sometimes twice.

I do as much as I can to ensure the reader doesn't mistake someone else's work for my own. Sometimes it still doesn't work.

If I'm quoting segments I'll either put them in separate quote boxes or use the " ... " symbol to denote there was unposted text between the blocks of text I quoted.

While I try to be scrupulous for myself, I don't necessarily expect others to do the same -- as long as I can differentiate the two, which typically hasn't been a problem for me.

I'm just trying to help us all. I'm not derailing a thread or chastising anyone. I'm just asking for your opinions.
