Quick question about Foreman...

If Foreman isn't signed by anyone soon, do any of you think it is possible that the Texans would try to resign him to a veterans minimum salary? Even if he doesn't start, he would be a good backup.

Possible, but would they? Or would he want to? (Guess if it's all he has.) but he'd have to re-earn his spot.

Considering that this team has picked up 3 ILBs this off season, Foreman is most likely going only be a memory. I think the the only way they bring in another ILB is if Ray Lewis gets released and signs for a dollar.

It looks like the coaches have redesigned their ideal ILB and Foreman just doesn't fit the fast, coverage ability that they seem to be looking for.

Question for those who with a good memory: Was Foreman a starter with the Bills before we acquired him?

Took over as a starter when Sam Cowart suffered a torn achilles. This site actually names Foreman as their Def MVP of the season.

Of course, we got him for what? Like a 5th rounder?
We traded return man Charlie Rogers straight up for Foreman. Rogers was one of the players we got in the expansion draft. It was a great trade for the Texans.

I'm not so sure of that...We seem to be signing plenty of people in hopes of having basically an open tryout and letting the best two start, keeping the next two as back-ups, and keeping one for special teams...

That's right, maybe the 5th rounder was the Deloach trade, or did we get him for Danny Wuerffel? Can't remember exactly, but Casserly made some really solid trades to start the franchise.

I'm pretty sure we got DeLoach for Wuerffel because Spurrier wanted him when he was Washington's HC. That didn't last long.

that is my point exactly. If Foreman isn't signed by anyone else, I think we should bring him back at the vet minimum and let him challenge the rest for a spot. I never said anything about giving him a spot. If he can't beat out any of the others then he doesn't deserve to be here, but if he turns out to be the best or even 2nd best, how can we not give him a chance. I guess I'm just not too comfortable with the options we have signed so far.

I have a feeling someone like Cleveland or Dallas will sign him due to the fact both of them are converting to the 3-4 and Foreman has experience starting in the 3-4. Just MO, I am probably wrong.

I don't think we resign him unless we have too. I think we have signed all the LB's were gonna sign till preseason.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Bears are playing wait-and-see in their search for a veteran linebacker to play on the strong side, with LB Warrick Holdman, LB Jay Foreman and LB Anthony Simmons in the mix.
