Putzier on 610

Enchilada Aficionado.
I listened to the first part of the interview, and he said that Bennie Joppru was practicing a bit at FB. He said that in his opinion, the best safety in the league was Ed Reed (i think). i didn't listen to anything beyond that. If anyone else listened, post a synopsis here.

Ehhh, he just said how competitive everything is, how Kubiak's offense will keep everyone guessing, how good everyone is, etc.

He DID say Carr will be successful IF he executes.

No kidding, I used to cringe whenever he said that freakin word. Whenever I hear it now I still think of him. Another thing that drove me nuts was that ridiculous dumbfounded look he used to have on the sideline. I tried to find a picture but couldn't. I know ya'll know the look I'm talking about. It was kinda like "Duh, what just happened, Duh":crying:

joppru at FB? how will he be utilized there when we have jameel cook. ur pretty much wasting talent. id say give him some looks as a TE. if the texans run a 2 TE set, u have putzier and joppru as awesome medium gain targets. breuner is just a blocker of course.

I'm taking it that Joppru is seeing some time at FB ontop of the time he's seen at TE in practice. In this type of offense the TEs & FBs will be used in a similar way. So we'll likely see sets where the TEs or FBs are put in motion out of the backfield.

When Joppru was signing autographs at 'All Access' day, I wanted to ask him if he should log some game time before signing autographs, lol.

Well, if they are serious about this, I hope BJ puts on a few lb's. He was looking a little on the thin side. He looked good, but just a little small for the TE or FB position.

Leave the Wolverine alone. I know it's difficult. :)

I think Joppru at FB is a good idea if you are trying to figure out more ways to get him on the field. If that is the case, I think that says alot for Joppru.

***side note*****

I insterted Hape and Putzier on my Madden game, and it is amazing how much better the TEs are. play action passes are crazy now. Putzier gets open almost everytime.

The FB role is going to be more of an H-back so you guys need to stop thinking about the FB as a lead blocker only type position. The FB/H-Back/TE will be a motion man and interchangeable in our offense...for the most part.

I see. Makes sense now.

I heard a comedian use a phrase that sums up that look perfectly:

"He had that look on his face, you know, the same look a dog has when it stares at a ceiling fan."

Anyway, if you're on defense and you see a TE line up at FB, what do you do?

Vinny. Good analysis about the H-back role in this offense. I've been saying that myself since I joined 2 months ago. A lot of people on here freaking out about the Texans not having 2 "true" fullbacks on the roster. You typically wont see that in the Shannahan/Kubiak offensive style. They love their TE's who can block, catch and play some fullback as well. Good for special teams blocking also. In Denver, Putzier and Hape were used on: kickoff returns, some punt returns, extra points and field goals (Although they each hate special temas). You might see a "true" fullback play on kickoff returns but normally that's it.

Beer. A defender, usually OLB, will flip a coin as to whether the H-back is going to try and block you or run past you while running a pass route. Less predictable...

That's the Don Caper offense "Duh, what's going on" I wouldn't blame all bad performance of the Texans on Carr. Most quarter back would start pointing finger when thing goes bad, and Carr didn't he hell on the frustration, it show on his face sometime.

A little more info - among the TEs, Joppru got most of the snaps at HB with Putzier getting a few to keep everybody honest. It looks like Bennie has a niche on the team if anyone was worried about that.

Now we just have to pray that he stays 100% until at least the start of the regular season lol.

I'm sure he feels the same way, except even more so. Imagine his frustration level at this point. Don't you think he'd love to play at least one down as a professional football player?

I agree, if I had been in his shoes I probably would have gone nuts by now.
