Sunday Texans at Jets 1 p.m. TV: Ch. 2 Radio: WABC (770), WEPN (1050), WRCN (103.9) ABOUT THE TEXANS Coach: Gary Kubiak, first season (3-7) Last week: Lost to the Bills, 24-21 About the offense: In his fifth year, QB David Carr has shown slivers of brilliance, and he tied a record with 22 straight completions last week. When given time, Carr can be effective, but he's seldom had the chance to look and throw in his career (he was sacked 68 times last year but 'only' 24 times this season). WR Andre Johnson leads the NFL with 74 catches and is third with 884 yards. More than half his receptions have been for first downs (41), and he is very good at accumulating yards after the catch. The Texans had their second-best rushing game ever Sunday with 188 yards, 130 of them split almost evenly between Samkon Gado and Wali Lundy.

About the defense: The Texans have their own D-Rob, and just like the Jets' Dewayne Robertson, CB Dunta Robinson is starting to play to lofty expectations after a slow start. Without an interception through the first eight games, Robinson has had one in each of the last two, including a return for a touchdown against the Bills. DE Mario Williams was the No. 1 overall draft pick last spring, and he leads the team with 4.5 sacks, but rookie LB DeMeco Ryans is the team's leading tackler with 85, 70 of them solo stops.

The bottom line: The defenses are statistically about even in terms of yardage and points allowed, but the Jets have been playing much better recently while the Texans are coming off a game in which J.P. Losman looked like Y.A. Tittle. Chad Pennington and the running game should be able to produce much-needed success. Johnson shouldn't scare the Jets, who game-planned Detroit's Roy Williams out of the game last month. Johnson accounts for 46.6 percent of Carr's yardage and 37.9 percent of his receptions.

Jets left guard D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the fourth overall pick in this year's draft, will line up Sunday against Texans defensive end Mario Williams, the first overall pick. But that's not how Ferguson sees it.

"You have a lot of No. 1 draft picks you play against," Ferguson said. "Maybe they've just been in the league a few more years than you have. It's not the first time it's occurred."

The only thing we need to look at for a forcast of things to come is the W & L, Kubiak is 3-6, while Mangini is in a playoff hunt. Kubiak has wasted leads, ( slim and far between as they mey be ) while the Jets look to take advantage of their opponents weaknesses. Kubiak needs to sit Cook, who has cost us two of the last three games, and we need to stay away from AJ since he will have at least double coverage. This should be a big game for Moulds, all of our TE, and for our RB'd out of the back field.
In short play to our opponents weakness, and for the sake of all that is holy to the Football Gods, Kubiak get your head out of your ego, and try to WIN, leaving your "I will run no matter what" on Madden, where your bad play calling doesn't effect the rest of the city.
