ok so im not much of a football analyst but i know some people on this board know alot more than i do and i was thinking if someone help me out and grade and project the following potential draft choices for the texans,

adrian peterson
joe thomas

both amazing but who do we go for? i think peterson should be the choice, since spencer comes back and maybe a guard in the FA and a C later in the draft.

now im going to throw out some names for you of potential need, tell me what you all think?

The durability issues hinder his draft stock and overall grade, but the Eric Dickerson comparisons are for real, and he'll be every bit as good as advertised on the pro level. If he stays healthy, I think he does far better than Bush as a pure HB.

I know a lot of people grade him higher, but from what I saw of him while attending Penn State (we got a lot of the Big Ten games on TV), I wasn't all that impressed. He looks like the type who could be a decent, but not spectacular Offensive Lineman. Plus, the reason he didn't go out for the draft LAST year was because of a major knee injury, which immediately throws up a red flag.

He'll go highly in the draft merely because there's not a lot of depth to the draft's OLine class, but I'd truthfully take Gaither, Long or Baker over him had they all chosen to go to the Pros.

To choose between the two, I'd pick Peterson. Truthfully, my ideal post-season would be acquiring Cedric Benson from the Bears, and moving down and getting more draft picks, however with feasable thought, I see them standing pat and taking AP. I just can't see the Texan organization passing on a "once in a lifetime" HB again, no matter what.

None of them will fall in to the second round.
 
iam hopin we pick up someone good in the 2nd to bolster the Oline, but yeah i agree with you toro, none of them likely to fall to 2nd, unless we get lucky like with DeMeco.

I'd love to see Blalock fall that far, but it's not likely. Of the Olinemen mentioned, the one with the most probabilty of falling is Levi Brown. What I know of him, from what I saw, he's a guy who has all the physical tools you look for in an offensive lineman, but he lacks that neccessary killer instinct and is inconsistent as all hell.
 
I like Joe Thomas and wouldn't mind us adding him, drafting a RB with our 2nd, sign someone like Plummer, and trade Carr. As much as defense wins championships, so does a rushing attack. We cannot continue to play with the "No va" (cannot go) offense and expect to win games.

I don't see how AP is a "once in a lifetime" RB if he is supposed to be another Eric Dickerson since he played in my lifetime. Also, don't expect AP to have the kind of immediate success with the Texans like Dickerson had with the Rams. The reason is a simple one. The Rams had one of the best Offensive Lines in the NFL back then and the Texans have one of the worst Offensive Lines in the history of the NFL right now.

On another note, will Michigan DT Branch likely be declaring for the Draft?
 
I think you must look realistically at what we will know about team when draft month arrives. One poster on MB allegedly knows Spencer and stated the LT is already lightly running. If Spencer is solid he goes to LT starter. However, yesterday John McCLain said Spencer will be moved to RT. If that is to happen, IMO you HAVE to draft Thomas if avail. If Spencer is to be our LT, we should draft AP. QB is not an option, but should be addressed if someone like Kolb is avail in 3rd or later. See my suggestion under thread "trades". If we draft a good CB in 2nd or sign Nate Clemmons (and we will have $ under cap) we should not need to up grade safeties unless someone stands out in 5,6 or 7.

If Spencer is Left T: Peterson, CB or Clemmons F/A, Kolb, 4th: Best DT or LB
Spencer not LT: Thomas, the rest as noted above. We go RB for AP only!
 
So did McClain say they are leaving Efferiam at OLT ? Help me out I'm scratching my head here ? We've only got one OLT on the roster and that is Spencer. Salam IS the swing tackel. One of the reason's I'm pushing for an OLT prospect is becuase we only got one on the roster.
Another guy I like is Manny Rameriz. Why people are in love with Danatish is beyond me. Ok the guy is there in the fourth I'll go with that. However Ramerez, not saying he will, but with his feet, he has a chance, to cover OLT in a pinch.
I know Dantish made some snaps at OLT but how long ago was that ? I just don't believe they will go into '07 with only one OLT on the roster.
