At this point in the season with everything that's happened, what would you rather have? I believe this is a honest question giving how we just extended a QB who is playing as bad as it gets, but yet we have a fantastic team surrounding him that's being held back. I believe even if we did make the playoffs, we would be bounced out maybe even earlier than the last two years. We are just too easy to beat for the well coached, decent QB-playing teams.

I believe the best way to push this team forward in the bigger picture of things would be to miss the playoffs and get a spot in the draft where we could trade up and get a real franchise QB. Of course, see what the back ups can do accordingly.

Bring on the bashing.

I really want to see what Case will do. We basically have seen what TJ will do I think. But if you really want the best draft choice keep MS in, seriously.

you can't predict **** like this. Hell, the Texans could suddenly turn it around. I don't think it'll happen, but we've all seen stranger **** happen in the NFL.

And as to what anybody wants, it doesn't matter until we get a new HC. As long as Kubiak is HC it doesn't matter who we draft.

You always want to get into the playoffs. Once there anything can happen. The only downside to getting there is we definitely have the same head coach next year. Even with a pick in the 20s we can land a franchise QB. There are more top of the draft busts at QB than ones that turned out great.

Eh, I'll never root for a higher draft pick over winning so post season for me. I don't see us getting this turned around but you never know. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good and we may just have to hope for that. Plus you don't need a high draft pick to have a successful draft unlike a league like the NBA. After all, how high was Hopkins? There are more than enough talented players to land a turning piece in the late round. As it is this year is being touted as a strong one for the quarterback position if that is what folks are thinking on.

So I'm hoping for a push to the playoffs and letting the chips fall where they may. Granted, the unfortunate part is that for the Broncos scoring 30 points is a bad a day and we're yet on another 6 quarter streak without an offensive touchdown.

On a positive side, Schaub has thrown a touchdown in four straight games...just not to us. So he is consistent....sorta.

i want the higher draft pick...If we make it to the post season we'd just be spinning our wheels imo...we're not going anywhere. Even if it means we have to keep Kubiak and he gets to be apart of it, above all else, this team needs to address the qb position...seriously.

:smiliepalm:

You try telling JJ Watt & co ..... we're ****ing off the rest of the season for draft position.

:nolisten:

I think GK is saying that by keeping MS the starter. I detected a lot of restraint when they were interviewing the defensive players.

You know the players aren't idiots. They can see MS better than we can. They know MS is not going to get them there. I really don't think they feel much different than many of us. What is there to lose by playing one of the backups.

FOUR pick sixes in a ROW!!!!!!!!!!! Along with the only game with no pick six, the first pass intercepted. C'mon man.

That's an NFL record. Are you saying there is something wrong with our record setting NFL QB?

Well...if there is a record for consecutive games with an int Schaub now has 8 straight games with one going back to last year. Our quarterback definitely aims high!

....He just doesn't aim for our receivers.

A chance for a super bowl is always what you want out of a season. Until they are out of the playoffs, I'll be rooting for the team to make it there. Once out though, the higher the pick the better.

No way I'd elect to push for a High Draft spot. I would rather see the team turn it around too, but as unlikely as that is, I'd still rather not give Gary Kubiak an inch in which he could point to a decision not to win as a reason it wasn't on him. I want it to be on him each and every week. Maybe.... JUST Maybe McNair will realize that when Kubiak say's "It's on me" that it actually may be on him!

Higher draft pick!? This has to be a joke. After waiting almost ten years for the first playoff appearance, I'll take that every time.

If you have to ask the question ..... You are a loser with a losers mentality.

You don't play to lose.

I'd take a losing season if it gave us a chance to not be stuck in mediocrity for years. Luck is playing lights out and will for years to come. We are staring at a great QB draft class which we desperately need help with. You can tattoo the word Loser on me if it means we miss the playoffs but end up with a top, young QB with lots of potential here on out.

I'm not advocating they play to lose..i'm going to be happy if we make the playoffs....no matter who's under center...

but what's the difference between continuing on with Schaub's suckiness & losing & getting a higher draft pick......vs starting 1 or both young qb's where odds are both of them aren't going to be any better than the incumbent.....and us losing & getting a higher draft pick as a result?

At this point, the higher draft pick is more appealing to me than watching this team back into the playoffs only to get ass-raped by a better team. I'm fine with them taking a step back this year if it means that we can possibly take 2 steps or more forward next year and beyond.....& the high draft pick & the possiblity of Kubiak getting out of here represents that for me.

The draft is a bigger crapshoot than the post-season.

And this is coming from a guy who loves the draft.

You play to win the game.

There are other ways to get a higher draft pick. Rick Smith needs to figure that out.

I can agree with that. I just think it'd be ideal if we could get into a good enough position to where all we would have to give up is one future 1st pick to swap spots in the top 5-10 picking area. We wouldn't have to throw the farm.

This thread is all hypothetical for the heck of it. :kitten:

See what Indy did. They threw away one season and came back much better for the next several. That's how the NFL is set up.
We may a well piss away the rest of this season and draft a top QB. This season is gone anyway; we could profit for many years to come by getting a top QB. We might also benefit by getting rid of Kubiak that way.

The no. 8 is cursed with this franchise.

Perhaps two of the most sucktastic QB records in NFL history are both owned by Texans QBs wearing no. 8.

Most sacks in a season, and now 4 pick 6's in four games.

:toropalm:

I'm not superstitious, but I'd act like that number doesn't even exist in the future. Why chance it.

Post season.

Every single time.

But why do we need to throw away a season when you can get guys like Dalton, Kaepernick, & Wilson in the second or third round. Even Tyrelle Pryor was found in the supplemental draft.

Pretty much.

No reason to lay down and thankfully the Texans aren't the kind of organization that is going to quit on the season.

This is how I see it. Considering we probably won't even win the division with the way Colts are playing, what do we gain for making the playoffs just to be booted out early? High fives? Kubiak would certainly feel a lot better about his job which wouldn't be a positive. It would also make the find for a new QB that much difficult if we are picking around or past 20. We still have a lot of young players that we can build off. It really could be the swiftest rebuilding a team could ask for.

Not making the playoffs could relieve the Texans of possibly Schaub and maybe even Kubiak (unlikely). We could make moves and move up for a true athletic QB. What a YOUNG supporting cast he could come into. Talk about a clean slate and fresh start. Our Rivals would hate for that to happen.

What if..

All of you "play to win the game" guys crack me up a bit. The Colts absolutely TANKED their season to "Win" the suck for Luck game, and in doing so, have re-established themselves as probably the 2nd best team in the AFC in a total of 2 years. So, I guess it depends on whether you are playing to win the football game or the draft game.

In the long term, they will win MANY more games than if they had struggled to find a way to pull out 2 or 3 more wins in their Suck for Luck season.

Short term vs. long term.

I agree that the Colts tanked and were smart for doing so. That said, a Luck-level talent only comes around so often.

We should be committed to drafting a QB next year regardless of where we finish. It's obvious that it's the biggest problem on the team right now.

Is there another Luck out there?

Suck for AnybodyButSchaub..... doesn't have the same ring & I doubt it would work out as well.. Kaepernick was there in the second. Dalton was there in the second. Schaub came out of the third, Wilson was there in the third.

If Schaub wasn't throwing the other team the ball more than he was throwing it to DeAndre, Kubiak would make that zombie a 12 game winner.

Arian & Watt are going to have to win us a Super Bowl, that's all there is to it.

This team has to much talent to lose the next 11 games. As far as I know Luck has already been drafted and there is not a can't miss number one qb in this years draft. So do we tank the whole season for a hit or miss Qb that may not help us one bit? The Colts just happened to be in the right place at the right time and probably didn't try to hard to win near the end of the season but to start losing after 5 games when there is not "one in a decade" qb coming out is a bit crazy.

No QB worth taking a dive for.

Johnny Football? How much different would Keenum be with the same A&M team?

Bridgewater? Not convinced he is going to translate to NFL yet.

So, I take a shot at the playoffs, preferably with Case at QB.

We sure do have the talent, but the two most important pieces (QB/HC) sure can't seem to figure out their dooming problems. Come on, don't tell me you're afraid of drafting a QB! Hey, turns out Gary isn't a QB Guru after all and everyone has their doubts about TJ and Case. We need a major upgrade at the position to get us where we want to be. I don't see how that can be argued. I'm all for seeing if one of our back ups can sling it the way we'd like, but it should be a no-brainer to use our 1st on a QB.

Not a fan of Manziel for the NFL, agreed.

Boyd, Mariota, Hundley? I agree on seeing what Case can do, but I'm not overly optimistic about him taking big hits.
