Possible Offensive Sets

I was just sitting here thinking of ways the Texans could really open up the offense and thought of a nice setup. Have DD and Morency in the backfield and a 3 receiver set. If Morency shows ability to pass protect, this would be a wide-open set that defenses would have fits trying to stop. Anybody have any ideas of what they would like to see?

I seriousely doubt that Morency and DD will be in the backfield at the same time except for a slight chance of a "once in a great while" set where DD starts out by lining up with Morency in the backfield, and then splits off into the slot position as a receiver.

That's along the lines I was thinking. It would be gimmicky but could be effective. 5 legitimate offensive threats on the field. Kinda like the Bills in the 90's running 4 WR sets and the no-huddle. Just looking for ideas and waiting on pins and needles for the season to start.

And Carr with have -1 second to throw. The protection is very suspect at best, taking away another blocker in a FB is an instant success at being ranked at the top of the league in sacks.

If you want a running back in that can also block, Wells is the man. Check him out on special teams - he's a hitter.

That's why I said once in a blue moon. It would be to confuse the defense. You start out with a 3wr, 2 rb set, and you put DD in motion into the slot position. I think if you ran this maybe 6-10 times a yr, you could confuse the defense. Of course, you have no TE's, and no FB. Risky, but it could work.

You can keep one or both backs in to block if needed so you're not leaving Carr totally naked. As Porky said, it would be a fun, gimmicky play to screw with defenses and could actually score some points. Any other goofy ideas out there?

i have one. its kind of stupid though. take your 5 down lineman, your qb, a te (bruener), 2 halfbacks(DD and morency), a FB, and 1 receiver, mathis. do a play action and have mathis on a fly route.

I think that would work if Carr was in shotgun and we ran somekind of play action screen to Morency. Maybe we have DD and morency one on each side of Carr while hes in shotgun, we send DD in motion and snap the ball, fake the handoff to Morency, pump fake to DD and hti Morency in the middle for a middle screen after the O-line has already released blocks and i s headed upfield. Cause then you spread the D wide and hit the gap up the middle so all the o-line has to do is attack the LBs, and Morency makes one miss and its a big gain.
