players you would be happy with at 1.22

mussop

Hall of Fame
These are top players most likely gone before we pick.
Tunsel
Goff
Wentz
Jack
Bosa
Buckner
Ramsey
Stanley
Hargreaves

So I'm leaving them off my list. But obviously if any of them were to fall we would be foolish not to run to the podium.

These are the guys that I would love to have.
DT Billings I believe he will be a pro bowler quick. Hes not even 21 yet but is ready make an impact. His shed and burst off of blocks is incredible. Mocks don't reflect it but I believe he will be gone early so I doubt we even get the chance.

DL Robinson leader with toughness and ability to make an instant impact. IMO he was the better of the two DTS for Alabama. He can play DT or DE and be an upgrade.

OT Conklin
OT Decker
Can't go wrong with either guy. Instant starters at RT for the next ten years. Both are strong run blockers and would help give our OL a hard nosed identity we have always lacked.

RB Elliot best back in draft. That is all.

RB Henry big physical back to wear down defenses so miller can come in and run past them.

WR Doctson best wr in draft. A Hopkins clone. Nuff said.

WR Treadwell solid wr another really good weapon for our new QB.

QB Lynch insurance for most important position.

Guys you have to cosnider if they checkout.
LB J Smith. Medical. Will injury have long lasting effect or can he fully recover. If he can fully recover your eventually getting a top ten talent at 22. His talent is worth the wait IMO.

DL Robert Nimdeche Is his head on right? Can a strong veteran presence like Watt and Wilfork keep him in check? If so lined up opposite Watt would be a huge upgrade over JAG Crick. Defense would be incredibly disruptive.

Guys that I would understand if we picked.

TE Henry. No explanation needed.

CB any of the top 5 rated guys that are available. Not big on scouting secondary. Just to hard to get all 22 and get a good look at. J J getting up there could be gone after this year.

Really can't see any other position being BPA when we're up or worth the pick. Still
Considering a couple of guys that I haven't had time to watch enough of. A couple of edge rushers and another DT.

S Karl Joseph from West Virginia is criminally underrated. I think he's a top 15 player in this draft. Most people will see that statement and believe that I am insane. Go back and watch him. I would be absolutely thrilled to walk out of the first round with him.

He plays a position that isn't traditionally valued very highly so that hurts his value. He's also coming off an ACL so he's under the radar.

But in today's wide open NFL he is the perfect versatile player to have in the back end. He can cover WRs in man. He can play centerfield. He can enforce over the middle of the field. And he can come down and make tackles against the run.

I think he could have an Earl Thomas/Bob Sanders kind of impact for a secondary. Maybe he isn't the pure talent that those two guys were, but I think he could be the type of player that makes everyone else substantially better.

That's my man crush on the defensive side of the ball for this class. And we could use a stud S with his skills.

If you say so Ill buy it. Like I said I'm not big on watching secondary players. Safety is definitely a need.

I'm only going to list offense because I haven't done any research on the defensive side of the ball this season.

Doctson
Oline (leaving this general because we could use help at every position, I'll get more specific later)
Elliot

Yup that's basically how I feel now haha.

There has only been 5 times the Texans have taken a player I really like (and I scouted myself) with their first pick and my track record on that is 40%.
Mario Williams, Amobi Okoye, JJ Watt, Whitney Mercilus, Jadeveon Clowney. Interestingly enough it's only been defensive players, but I've always preferred defense to offense, except this season. I really don't want to count the ones we got at 1.1 because those were kinda layups and yet both backfired (although I still contest Williams was a better pick than Bush or VY)

I'm a big "build the trenches" guy myself but I could totally get behind just about any position this year. Doctson and elliot could be special. We need a TE so bad it's mind boggling.

Joseph is good

I like Dillon better in the 4-5th though.

I was thinking add Ryan Kelly to the above list until I saw this

When I watch Alabama Reed is second fiddle to Robinson.

I like coleman, his stop start and change of direction are elite. Haven't seen that kind of ability since reggie bush. He would be on my list if he gave any effort at all blocking. I've never seen anyone try less than him. It's absolutely pathetic. Now if Briles has told him not to block for some reason then cool, he's just doing what he's told. I just can't see it.

IMO Butler is like Spriggs. People are enamored with his athleticism so they are over hyping them. The game tape just doesn't match the hype.

Clark is one that I might add to my list. Just have to watch a few more games first. Lie what I've seen so far.

No, I guess my screenshot isn't showing... but Pete Prisco has

And I've yet to see Prisco right about anything so...

Just don't think he that much better than 2 or three other centers in this draft to want to use a first on him.

My memory sucks but has X suafulo (sp) ever played center?

Glasgow is my #1 rated C. I also like Tuerk and one of these guys can be had in the 3rd rd.

BTW, If BOB after working with Coleman thinks he can teach him the route tree then I'm on board with Coleman @22. Coleman is like Ted Ginn with much better hands.

I doubt coleman has any problem learning the route tree. By all accounts he did it well at his pro day.

I don't see the Ginn comparison. Reggie Bush is the only other player I've seen with the stop restart abilities that coleman has.

I would draft him in the first if I liked his answer to one question. "Why were you such a ***** when it came to blocking?"

If we draft him then obviously OB doesn't have that concern and they have a plan for his skill set. That will be exciting.
