Place Kickers I'd like to draft or UDRFA

No way Im spending a draft pick on a kicker when the defense is so full of absolute fail.
Hell I dont think I would use a roster spot for an UDFA kicker either since those are limited ..... Got to devote all assets to fixing that offensive thing we call a defense.
And for what its worth , Rackers has been .... good enough so far.

Alex Henery, really good punter too.
Doesn't kick off for Nebraska so not sure about that aspect.

I agree with Ray. Rackers has been VERY good IMO. But that doesnt mean we should ignore kickers. If there is a special player in the 6th round, I dont mind taking him and letting him compete for the job.

Hell I could punt better than Turk, and I would do it for free. Punting is by far the easiest job in the entire game of football. It's incredible that any NFL team could have issues at that position when there are only 32 punters in the entire league.

I would start with the Ray Guy award finalists.
Drew Butler - Georgia (Also won it in 2009)
Ryan Donnahue - Iowa
Chas Henry - Florida
And toss in Derek Epperson from Baylor. I would assume 1 will go in the 6th. But most will be 7th or RFA's.

That would be my top guys also. In a different order, but that is no biggie.
I agree that this year none of these guys appear to be a good enough prospect for a team to look punter in the 5th round.

Honestly, he seems like a long-term solution for a team like the Cowboys, Steelers or maybe the Texans. I would bet he doesn't fall past the 5th round. 6th is the lowest I could see for him.

If Janikowski were retiring, I would say he could go in the 2nd, but that's because the Pats have their 1st round pick
Rackers would like to debate your statement that he cant kick past 45 yards - He has a long of 53 yards this season.
Rackers had ONE bounce off the upright .... and go thru. He has made 90.5% of his kicks this season going 19/21. Has also made 33/33 PAT's.
Kubiak stated directly that the reason he kept Rackers over Brown was his ability to drive the ball on kickoffs.
Then toss in his value as a real ST player rather than just some liquored up kicker who's the last line of defense .... The guy makes plays and goes for strips. Find me another kicker who can say that and has the stats to compare to Rackers accuracy this season.
Too damn many other holes to fill on this team to waste a camp roster spot on a kicker ....

The secondary is the worst ever (the Tit's game skewed the stats). They need a FS who has some real cover skills opposite Pollard. They need an upgrade at CB .... None of them can defend a slant route. They cant figure out how to stop passes between the zones either.
Better find a DT that demands a doubleteam rather than 0k0ke trying to shoot gaps - the DT play is whats killing the DL and its not doing the secondary any favors. Im sick of watching DE's get washed by on the back side while the QB steps up and fires a lazer to a wide open reciever.

None of our LB's can cover a sleeping baby with a blanket much less cover a RB or TE ... Diles has had a sub par season , might be a wiser use of resources to look to upgrade there.

Gotta draft a QB too .... cause Schaub hasnt hiot a reciever in stride on a deep ball all season , wont run for a first down and hasnt been near as accurate this season as he has previously.
This team has too many holes to be bothering with looking to replace one of the few guy's who has performed up to expectations this season.

Thanks for your response because it does bring to light why we wouldn't draft a kicker but I like to think this team does opposite what we want them to do.
Seriously though, I don't disagree with needing to fill holes but if you are going to look at it that way, one thing I could argue that has hurt this team is our ST play and alot of that has been due to the fact that other teams always seem to start their drives at their 35 since Rackers only kicks to the 10 or 15.
I totally agree with what you said and the bolded part I really agree with.
For the reasons you explained for not getting a kicker in the draft, I'm kind of hoping that we trade our first round pick for more picks. It's not like the team doesn't have talent to win games. We just need more picks.

Rackers surprised me with his long kicks this season, and with how he plays like a madman on ST's I don't think we can consider replacing him right now. We have a luxury with him in that he is an avid tackler who puts his nose in the pile on literally every kickoff.
Most teams could hardly say they have 11 players on KO's simply because the kicker stands there and plays the "is he gonna fake me oh my gosh I'm gonna look like an ***** on national t.v." game. Rackers doesn't play the "safety" position like most kickers do.
