Chester Pitts, offensive lineman with the Houston Texans, has agreed to be an unpaid spokesman for Reliant Energy Inc.'s campaign to promote energy efficient light bulbs.

Pitts has replaced all of the regular light bulbs in his Pearland home with compact fluorescent lights. And the football player is encouraging his teammates and the entire Texans staff to pledge to switch out at least one light bulb in their own homes.

Houston-based Reliant Energy will distribute 2,500 to 5,000 free compact fluorescent light bulbs to fans who sign the campaign pledge at the Aug. 25 preseason game between the Texans and the Dallas Cowboys. The same goes for the Texans' training camp, where another 1,000 to 2,000 bulbs are expected to be handed out.

Good thing Wachovia's not handing them out. Otherwise you would be limited to 6 bulbs per room, with a maximum of two rooms.

Reliant is the highest price REP in the Houston market. Their customers would be better served with a different type of campaign.

We cant even choose in Austin we are stuck with the City utility which is a major cash cow!
