Ok so we have the 18th pick worth 900 points. Both of Miami's second rounders together come to 890, which is a great scenario for us IMO. It gives us a pick at the top of the second where a lot of first round talent still remains, gives us another second rounder to use as a pick or ammunition to trade up again. You could even ask them to chip in say a seventh rounder to round out the full value and hey every little helps when negotiating trades on draft day.

What do you guys think?
 
I actually would consider this trade. But instead of the 7th rounder, just give us _____.... Well I have no idea who they have and would give up that I would actually want.

We could greatly use the 2nd round picks as many times the 2nd and 1st rounds contain equally successful talent. This would allow us to pick the best OL and RB available in our position.

I doubt Miami gives up picks to undergo its rebuilding. If anything, Parcells will trade down from the #1 to get even more picks.
 
Parcells wants his own people so the more picks the better. I've already heard reports he's fired the GM & put the word out he's open to offers ;) for the first overall pick. McFadden anyone?

As much as I hate Dallas, I've heard that JJ has a strong desire to get McFadden. Two #1's this year, Carpenter, & their #1 next year might get it done, but would JJ be crazy enough to make that deal?

Welcome aboard. I'm tellin' ya. It's a buyers market and Miami need the picks to upgrade the grey beards in the defense. One great guy isn't going to get them better quickly. Dallas has always featured a killer RB behind a great o-line when they went to the championhips. Seems to dove tail into the opening of the new stadium. I thought at first it would be New England that would move down. They are in the same boat with corners and LBs.

I would consider that trade. In essence, the first pick of the 2nd round is actually the last pick of the first round because of the Pats forfeited pick.
 
Here's some other scenarios trade down through the 1st...

Tampa's 20th (850) and late 4/early 5 (~50)=Houston's 18th (900)
Washington's 21st (800) and 85th (165)=Houston's 18th (900) and mid 4 (~65)
Dallas' 22nd (780) and 93rd (128)=Houston's 18th (900) and mid 7 (~8)
Seattle's 23rd (760) and 90th (140)=Houston's 18th (900)
Pittsburgh's 24th (740) and 86th (160)=Houston's 18th (900)
Tennessee's 25th (720) and 87th (155) and late 5 (~30)=Houston's 18th (900) and mid 7 (~8)
