Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker Film Study

Practice Squad
Saw Kiper's latest mock draft had him going at No. 37 as a Justin Reid replacement. Went looking for film on him and found this really good breakdown of him -- more than the typical highlight plays set to hype music lol. Dude has some mighty mouse in him at 200 pounds. Not a lot of coverage plays in the vid, but his PFF coverage grades are superior to Pitre, Cine and Hill.

Hill is by far the better prospect. That’s probably old PFF grade, not sure maybe have to join elite club to get updated content. I only subscribed to basic membership.

They're different players. Brisker is an in the box SS, and Hill is a FS with the ability to move down and play CB. I actually expect Hill to be drafted by a team with the intent to move him to CB full time.

Hill has also risen into the first round, by most top analysts. He is very physical and can play In the slot or the box. Far more desirable this day and age.

Brugler just released his 7 round mock draft. Posted on thread “who you don’t want, OL in first round” unfortunately for me he had Trevor Penning. Hopefully he will be overdrafted and another team will save the Chargers from this fate. Just had to get that out here. Like his Texans picks very much, #3 Ekwonu #13 Jermaine Johnson.

back to Brisker. This is where Brugler mocks him,

49NOJaquan Brisker, S, Penn State
21. New England Patriots: Dax Hill, CB/S, Michigan

This is where we might see the first interior offensive lineman off the board, but Hill offers the position versatility and athleticism that will really appeal to Bill Belichick. Hill can step in at corner or nickel from day one and possibly be a long-term answer at safety. That versatility is a luxury in Belichick’s secondary.

Hence my earlier comment.

All players have a legit film study with coverage and such on YouTube. The issue is MOST of the time you have to listen to someone who is doesn't have great understanding of the coverage. So, you end up watching and grading it yourself. Which IMO is better

Which is why I'm bad at evaluating CB's. Not understanding coverages that is.

That's why some DBs fall in the draft lead up. Evaluation of the coverage without knowing what the assignment was. I played RB, S, CB and some QB. So most of the time I can see what happened. Not always though

Great size and speed. He measured out very well. I haven't looked into any film on him

My 2 cents Penning will need year to take over LT but should do well LG this season next to Tunsil. Tunsil would be better if Penning could assist with rushers spinning back to inside. Salyer the same.

But he didn't say anything about Penning to the Texans
sigh-- no but I was offering my thoughts on Penning being a good fit in round one despite post BL quoted as I think he would do well next to Tunsil. Threads go off target frequently.
