Patrick Peterson

Let's assume the number two corner on many boards, Prince Amukamara, is available at 11. If you're Smith, you ask yourself: Would I trade Patrick Peterson for Amukamara and any one of three options at positions of need with pick number 42 in the second round -- the third wide receiver (maybe Maryland's Torrey Smith), the first safety (UCLA's Rahim Moore), or maybe the second running back (Mikel Leshoure of Illinois). That's a tough question. The gap between Peterson and the next corner would have to be huge for Houston to do that.

Why would Smith be considering drafting a RB?

Sometimes these national 'experts' confound me.

because, he's Rick Smith. I was tempted to insert RB DeMarco Murray into a Texan Mock Draft myself, but I actually never did a Rick Smith Texans mock draft only a couple group efforts & my own personal opinion mock draft. DeMarco would be a great addtion however to our RB group & if the Texans have him on their board as 3rd round value if he's still there in the 4th they just may go ahead & call his name. I think this is the approach they used with TE position I could see them adding quality depth @ RB as well :shades:

I am on the record as being pretty anti Aldon Smith, but I would be much much more disappointed if we brought in a high round RB.

With Ben Tate to add to an already effective stable of backs and with so many other glaring needs.....

I would lose all faith in the direction of the franchise.

Falcons are making a strong move for #6 to get Julio so that may put a wrench in other Peterson moves unless they gt to 5.

Calling the scenario "likely," Jay Glazer predicted late Thursday afternoon that the Falcons would trade up to No. 6 to draft WR Julio Jones.
Glazer confirmed previous reports by SI's Peter King and NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora that the Falcons are trying "very strongly" to move up, and now he's going a step further. Glazer believes the trade has a "very strong" chance of happening as long as Jones or A.J. Green is there when the Browns go on the clock. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has been aggressively pursuing an offensive playmaker as the missing piece on his contending roster. Source: Jay Glazer on Twitter Apr 28, 6:04 PMPlayer Outlook

And they nailed it!!

Hell call him a safety.... but he's a safety that can come up and guard a WR 1 on 1 - and THAT is valuable! I say let's just go ahead and cut the bull and trade up for him. I'm ready for some excitement.

1st and 2nd get us to Arizona. Would they be willing to trade down? Would we be willing to give up the 2nd? I suspect there are a number of teams that would be wanting to move to their spot so it may take more than it 'traditionally' would.

Guess they wanted Peterson more. Surprising, as I didn't expect them to pick a db
