Owens AND Moss???

OzzO

.. and then?
Raiders | Looking to Acquire Owens?
Thu, 30 Jun 2005 09:41:47 -0700

WPVI.com reports there is some speculation the Philadelphia Eagles could trade WR Terrell Owens to the Oakland Raiders for WR Jerry Porter. If the trade were to occur, the Raiders would have two of the best wide receivers in the NFL: Randy Moss and Terrell Owens. Moss told reporters Wednesday, June 29, he could co-exist with Owens as long as he got the number of passes he deserves.

Oh... well, never mind then. :heh:

But if they were to pull that off - that'd be an amazing duo.

I think they'd be at eacher others throats by the end of the season...too much ego to be #2, no matter what they say now.

This should also mean that RWilliams won't be playing with that team. Did they get any RB in the draft?

They picked up Lamont Jordan during FA.

With both Owens AND Moss on that team Jordan can look forward to about a 60 carries this season if they're going to be keep the two recievers happy. I think they'd be crazy to try and get Owens from Phily. The Raiders have much bigger needs than WR.

What a disaster of an idea this is. Do you REALLY think either of those guys could handle being second fiddle to the other one? 'Cause I sure don't...

They were talking about this on Cold Pizza this morning and there is no way I can see this happening. There wouldn't be enough room on the field for those 2 egos...

Owens' Days as Bird Numbered?
PHILADELPHIA-June 30, 2005 — With all the contract squabbles continuing, are the Eagles about to give T.O. the heave-ho?

There are reports a trade is in the works with the Oakland Raiders. Owens would go to Oakland for wide receiver Jerry Porter.

T.O. may be trade bait because he wants the Eagles to give him more money.

If he goes to Oakland, the Raiders would have two of the best wide receivers in the NFL: Terrell Owens, and Randy Moss.

Yesterday, Moss told reporters he could co-exist with T.O. as long as he got the number of passes he deserves.

Interesting. Is there a stadium in the NFL big enough to house these two together? Wait until they squabble, will be good TV viewing. :heh:

All I can speculate about this is....well.... it's an interesting development. I have heard Al trades in mysterious ways. Guess time will give us our answer.

I'm pretty sure that the Raiders would love attitude on their team since their supposed to be the Badboys of the NFL so who knows BBTF you could be right!!!! A good fair trade would be Porter and Jorden for Owens but maybe the Eagles just want to dump some cap on the Raiders and ensure even more success for the team.

As of March, Oakland had less than 4M in cap space. Porter just signed for 5 years, 6M SB 10M guaranteed. All of this paid by Oakland if Porter is traded.
Owens cap hit for Philly is 1.8M SB. He is due to make 3.5 M under his contract with the Eagles if he plays for them this season. He has said he will nor play under this contract, so if he is traded, Philly saves the 3.5M and Oakland will have to sign him to some kind of contract. Does anyone think he will take less than what Porter signed for?
If Philly can pull this off, they are the best front office in history. Porter is 27 on July 14. Owens is 31. Porter is just coming into his own as a receiver and has a great upside. Owens is one of the top receivers in the game today, but has major injuries the last three seasons. Owens will never play in Philly after this season. He is due over 5M in SB in 2006, but the Eagles will let him go before they pay it. That is what the fight is all about.
I think Porter is due only 1M a year for the next three years under his just signed contract. The roster money become Philly's problem in 2006, but his major upfront money comes from Oakland.
Logic says no way this happens. But we are taking Al Davis, so you never know. Al might have a deal with MTV. Real World-- the NFL. A house with Owens, Moss, Sapp, Woodson, Hawathorne, Collins, and Jankowski. Would be interesting to watch.

Heckle and Jeckle. They would have 2 of the 3 best WR's in the league (Harrison is the other top 3 WR).

A high-ranking Eagles official laughed off broadcast rumors that had the Eagles and Raiders discussing a trade that would ship disgruntled wide receiver Terrell Owens to Oakland for wide receiver Jerry Porter.

"It won't happen," he said.

Owens has six years left on his seven-year contract and earned $9.17 million last year but wants a raise. The Eagles have been firm in their refusal to rework his contract, and his agent has said Owens may not report to training camp without a new deal.

Owens stands to lose about $176,000 for every regular-season game he misses if he doesn't report by opening day.

Porter, 26, caught 64 passes for 998 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He has 163 catches for 2,273 yards and 19 TDs in five years with Oakland.

Owens caught 77 passes for 1,200 yards and a club-record 14 TDs last year and was 9-for-122 in the Super Bowl.

Porter signed a three-year contract extension worth $15 million in March. The Raiders also signed Randy Moss from the Vikings during the offseason.

This would work VERY well.

You remember what Moss did with Chris Carter?
What Owens did with Jerry Rice?

Come on now, you got 2 WR's that demand the ball, they also want to out do the other one. It might even inspire Randy Moss to go all out every play, and T.O. will be turning it up like it's Monday Night each game.
As for Kerry Collins, he has the perfect arm for this.

The battle between the two guys would be great. The Lions Herman/Brett single season WR record would be in serious Danger. And you know the Raiders wouldn't be shy about 50 attempts per game.

And in the rare instance that overatted backup does get the ball, the safeties will be so far off the line even in 2 WR sets, that he would be running vs 6 in the box.

I don't think it's likely to happen, I think it would be REALLY stupid of the Eagles. But after the Vikings traded Moss, anything can happen.
(Get BOTH of these guys in the AFC, smooth sailing in the NFC for the rest of us)

Yeah, I remember how two rookies got along with Hall of Famers.

Now that Moss and Owens are established, they both want to be the #1 WR not just on their team but in the entire league. They could not co-exist on the same team because of their egos.

Of course, the salary cap implications would make this deal impossible anyway.

Only if the Raiders lost. Owens and Moss do the most complaining durring a loss. And I can't see a team with Owens and Moss losing too many games.

The Raiders offense wouldn't be shy about throwing the ball 600 times. It's likely Moss and Owens would be getting close to the same amount of passes their way as they would as number one WR's. Randy and Owens wouldn't be doubled covered as much giving them more freedom. Won't be much complaining about that.

You don't think Jerry Rice demanded the ball?

Rice and Owens played together for 4 years with no problems.
Moss and Carter played together for 4 years with no problems

Owens just played an entire season with Fred-Ex, he has the biggest EGO in the NFL.

As long as the Raiders are winning, and with the best deep threat in the game, and the best YAC possesion guy in the game, they won't lose too many. They would get along just fine.

Unless they lose :)
And when they lose, they don't get along with anyone. So it wouldn't matter what team they are on.
But they still perform don't they?

At the Buzzer, SWISH!!!!
2 Points, and that's the game.

Freddie Mitchell has a big mouth, but he was not a threat to take any passes from TO in the Eagles offense. Randy Moss is a huge threat to TO.

Also, Moss is going to find out just how good he had it in Minnesota catching passes from Culpepper. If he thinks life is going to be as good with Kerry Collins, he has another think coming. Culpepper is a very good and quite possibly great QB, while Collins is not even average. And as far as chemistry goes, if Moss wore thin on Culpepper, just think how Collins and Moss will get along. Even though Collins has matured quite a bit since his Carolina days he has not had to deal with a player with an attitude like Moss. I can imagine how Moss would react if Collins lets the "n word" slip in a heated argument about some way-ward passes.

If TO ended up having problems with Donovan McNabb, just imagine how well he would get along with Collins.

Daddy, what is a CONTRACT?

Oh son, it is an arbitrary agreement that is contested and ignored by big egos and narcissistic megalomaniacs until the signers of said contract have either completely lost touch with reality or the owner's patience is eroded to a bottom line decision.

When dealing with spoiled brats such as these in today's world the only winner is the media, believing they have a mandate to charge the public "by the word". However, one word rarely printed or spoken in the press is "team"... a concept that only the Patriots and Pistons seem to understand.

T.O. and Moss... I sincerely hope it is not going to happen. If it does and there is any good in the world, the Raiders don't win more than 4 games and both T.O. and Moss are discarded as flotsam. :homer: .
