is out, just opened the mail :whoohoo:

some quick observations-

Heath Miller (9.30) is very highly thought of, if not for the fact that Joppru was healthy and ready to play this year he would almost be a lock pick for the Texans.

Carlos Rogers is also rated high (9.42) second among CB's only behind Rolle (9.53).

Charlie Frye is the higest rated QB (9.26) which may cause alot of movement on draft day as teams at the top try to trade down.

I was shocked when I saw that they had Frye rated above Rodgers and Smith...He showed well at the Senior Bowl, but did he have a good career in college? I must conceed that I haven't seen many Akron Zips games...

From everything I've heard he had some pretty good seasons in the past couple years, but this last year he played with a thumb injury on his throwing hand. Think of a Kurt Warner type of injury, and that might have contributed to his stock dropping among mocksters.

The ranking on Frye is curious. I wonder how much of it has to due with the performance of several other MAC QBs.

I'd be interested to hear how they have the ILBs ranked, and what they have to say about Thomas Davis.

here would be a great draft for the Texans, using ourlads draft guide & each players ratings as they grade out these should be Casserly's picks-

13 Demarcus Ware- OLB

47 David Baas- C/OG

73 Travis Johnson- DT

78 Channing Crowder- ILB

114 Antonio Perkins- CB/KR

151 C.J. Mosley- NT

188 Kevin Everett- TE

227 Derek Anderson- QB

:shocked That is pretty close to some people's "fantasy drafts" :heh: It would be great to get Baas in the 2nd, much less Johnson and Crowder in the 3rd, Mosley in the 5th, and Everett in the 6th...It would be stunning if any of these players were available at those respective junctions...

I was considering posting in the best mock fantasy too :heh: but these players according to ourlads are graded out around these exact positions. ourlads seem to really discount a player if he has injury or off the field issues. also realize it means nothing but maybe its not as much fantasy as you supposed :hmmm:

looks good to me. I could live with that.

That's the one thing I noticed about the 3rd rounders...They both have character issues and Crowder has injury problems...I would like to have both of them, but I can't see us taking guys with character issues...I think Everett may be overrated a little bit by most people due to the lack of depth at TE this year and the fact that he went to "the U"...

I like it, It addresses all of our needs, and I really think we are gearing up to take Ware at 13 if Dallas does not take him at 11.

every team 11-14 has had him in for workouts. Bill parcells was impressed but so were the texans.

I heard that Washington looking at WR with the #9 pick, which is just dumb IMO, but Dan Snyder hasnt proven me wrong on that yet. Expect another steller.500 year from the redskins.

NFL network says They may take Williamson or Clayton @ 9 unless by some miracle the top 2 WR fall to them.

Another thing i noticed is we sure like to draft the late round QB this will be the 3rd time in 4 years we have done that. Henson, Symons, Anderson.

I have to disagree with you on that one. I think he performed really well at Miami. Don't mistake him for Shockey or Winslow Jr because he is not in the same mold as those guys. In most of the Miami games I saw he did a very good job of blocking and receiving. He is a good all around TE, and if you're looking for the next great receiving threat at TE then Everett isn't your guy. The other Miami TE (Olsen) is the better receiver of the two, but he'll be at Miami again next year. He's very similar in his build and style of play to Todd Heap. If anything I think Everett might be a little underrated due to playing with such talented teamates. I think he could go near the bottom of the 4th or somewhere in the 5th. I'd be a little surprised if he lasted till the 7th.

ragone was a 3rd rounder not really a late round QB selection in my opinion He would also be our #2 if not for the fact, We cant bear to part ways with Banks.

I didn't even notice the late round tag. Geeze I must be more tired than I thought. I think we could part ways with Banks, but it never hurts to have a veteran backup.

I've talked with a few Miami fans, and they seem to think Everett is a second day pick because he's more adept at blocking than catching, and blocking TEs seldom go first day...He had good results last year, but Miami's offense has a lot of passes go to the TE...From what I've been told (never watched many Miami games since McGahee's injury) Everett seems to fight the ball and doesn't have "soft" hands...

I wasn't saying that this mock had him overrated, I was referring mainly to most other mocks that have him going in the 3rd...

your both right to a degree. this is straight off the draft value board and does not in any way shape or form reflect what teams will do to fill need or project a player to become in the NFL. TE for example is a below average group for this draft so a team that needs one may be forced to over extend their pick (value/talent wize) to fill a need. so with a prospect like Everett that is rated around the 188th pick overall in terms of skill level for his position upgrades the quality of depth but lacks consistancy & skill set at this time to contribute as a starter. if some team determines he is needed to contribute minutes right away then they may take him higher than he is ranked so you could say he then becomes overrated. his fair value on the other hand would be about right where the Texans 188th pick is.

all these picks reflect how they graded out at their position in College, combine and pro day workouts. they are detailed and well documented exactly what scouts are observing per positional skill sets.

it will be interesting to see if/where we draft a TE. To me that will show how much confidence in "Bennie Groinpull". if we draft one in round 3 or higher im goin to assume that the chances of bennie playing are not good this year and we are preparing.

if later rounds then its just a depth pick and all TEs are gonna have to fight it out to keep their jobs.

If none at all then "in Joppru we trust" and hope and pray this is the year.

I think TE is a questionable position for us...If we were to draft one, I would think it would be Heath Miller *aka* Heath Groinpull...I definitely think the Texans have a desire to upgrade the position or else they wouldn't have been rumored to have been interested in Bubba Franks...
