Our Top 10 Pick in 2011 Draft

El Tejano

Hall of Fame
How do yall feel about trading that pick, getting more picks and even perhaps picking up a proven vet at a need position with that pick?

Asking because I'm looking at our needs.

DT - we all know we still need one of those.

DE - Not a big need but Mario is always playing hurt and who knows how long we can go with him playing that way.

MLB - We don't know how Demeco is going to come back and he also hasn't played at the level he played his rookie season. He's also a RFA right?

OLB - Diles needs to be upgraded IMO.

Secondary - I think we can all agree that we need two safeties and two CBs. I doubt we do that but we I think we should.

Punter is going to be a need.

I think we also need to draft another WR. AJ is the man yes, but we need someone else who can be more consistent than KW and Jacoby Jones.

I wouldn't mind taking another QB to groom because Schaub has peaked IMO and until I see him do the necessary things to sustain drives (like run for two yards and slide) I'm not sold on him taking us to the promise land. I want an athlete back there.

We still need a legit Center. And we still can't get the RG position locked.

I'm always in favor of trading down, this year is no different. The only thing is though that I think we need true real bonafide playmakers on this team. If there is THAT special guy at our pick in the 1st round I take him. I don't care if that's CB, FS, OLB, DE, DT.... I'd take him and not look back. We need difference makers. If not, I'd try and trade down.

AJ Green I would take in a heartbeat. What's the outlook on Blackmon from OkSt.? That guy looks legit too.

First off it's no guarantee that we pick in the top 10, if the Texans screw up and win this weekend then we could be picking in the mid teens. How we spend that alleged top 10 pick is depends on exactly where that pick is and who's available at the time. Players that I like in the top 10 are Marcel Darius, Nick Fairley, Patrick Peterson, and Prince Amukamara. If all of those guys are gone then I'd agree to a trade down.

It doesn't matter. With Smithiak sticking around for another yr. If they draft one impact player I will be suprised. Ex. Jackson over McCourty.

At this point all Texan fans can hope for is that Kubiak doesn't elect to have anal fissure surgery the week of the combine.

The impact player of this draft (from the Texans' need perspective) is Peterson. AJ Green is also an impact player, but we won't get a shot at him. Even if we did, I'd dangle him and take the best offer I got.

I'm interested to see Fairly one last time in a game to see if he can bump himself into the impact category. He's not Suh, who was a remarkable prospect, but he's not bad.

It's a good idea to keep all options open. including trading up for Peterson.

seriously how can we trust them to get the better of any deal trading back? Until proven otherwise Rick Smith/Gary Kubiak cannot be trusted.

take bpa.

after Sunday we will know if the Texans pick is Top 10 or not.

I'm thinking not. How can they continue to lose games they should win & still keep the coach, his assistants & the GM who has had five years of adding quality, foundation players for every position?

After today's game, please put Kicker back on my wish list. Those FGs by Rackers are just getting too close for comfort.
