on RB Andrian Peterson and Sooner running game.

I just saw one of the cooles fake punts, they used Ngata and 3 other linemen as a swing door pitch out to the left where those linemen were licking their chops on knocking the snot out of tiny DB's and Lb's. Suffice it to say the play went for 20 yards.
 
for some strange reason the Oregon coach likes to platoon his QB's and yes Clemons has been sidelined most of the year & he was considered a Pro prospect. its amazing Oregon has done as well as they have given their situation :)

He may have won that battle, but the Sooner OL is winning the war in the second half.
 
he looks like he has the potential to be a top 10 pick but I see him sliding off this performance. not to mention everytime he is slow to get up you wonder if its not something more serious :twocents:

this solid performance from the Sooners bodes well for the Longhorns. I'm taking Texas in a close one :)
 
yeah my post was a little to soon. As of late peterson is looking like a man possesed and ngata was taken out of the game. People on the SC board are starting realize how much their conference sucks.

Unfortunately the Big 12 doesn't have much to brag about this year either.
 
I know but they talk like every big 10 team can crush our conference, having said that it looks this game is going into overtime at the least and I hope it does its been a very entertaining game

To be fair, Tech destroyed Cal in the Holiday Bowl last year.... a precursor to tragedy?

Not really.....although its two completely different sports, this run is reminding me of the detroit piston championship. One great team making a march towards a championship, but absolutely getting no play by the media, instead getting shuned by the west coast media and another la team. One thing I don't understand is how can espn can possibly be comparing usc to all the all time great collage football teams when it isn't even clear they are the best football team in 2005. If nothing else I would love to see Texas blow them out of the water and make espn eat their words. USC is one of the most overated teams I have seen. I also love how texas is playing it, saying that usc deserves all the play and the respect, but don't kid yourself Texas is going into the game with a BIG chip on their shoulder and are defintely playing this to their benifet. I can't wait for 01/04

Yea maybe, but that's all changing. The Sooners whipped the tar out of top 5
ranked Oregon in the second half, but the refs made it a lot closer when than
it should have been: (1) Peterson's momentum stopped and the refs should
have blown that play downed at the goal where they "awarded" the fumble to Oregon, (2) The interference call against the Sooners - if "Wilt the Stilt"
was still alive, he couldn't have caught that pass that was clearly not catchable.
And the Nebraska win over Michigan - that's huge for the Cornhuskers. I hope they are back !
 
Holiday Bowl- Oregon versus Oklahoma-As expected when you get to quality programs there starts to be more prospects than you can easily keep up with. Lots of middle round solid prospect types to try to keep track of.

Oregon

Kellen Clemens QB 6'2 220- injured leg out. Was having a quality season. Probably a 4th-5th round developmental type who enough skills to possibly start in the NFL.

Tim Day TE 6'3 265-A couple of catches through most of the game and then made a nice grab TD grab late, Did not watch blocking closely enough to comment. Is a level below all those athletic JR tight ends. Puts him 4th-5th round.

Holita Ngata DT 6'5 340- Active player, but doubled most of the night. Made one or two good plays, but in the 2nd half Oklahoma lined up and ran the ball often right up the middle. Ngata did leave the game after getting cut block (legal). Looks the part of a run stuffer, but did not see it consistently through the game.

Dewan Long De 6'4 260- did not watch enough to comment, but is considered draftable late.

Demetrius Williams WR 6'2 191- looks thinner than listed weight. Looks very quick and has good game speed. While having a touchdown run did not produce a ton in this game. Was productive through the year so I will believe the scouts middle round evaluation.

Terrance Whitehead RB 5'10 220- inside power runner who made people miss tackles. Did not look like he was really fast, but seems tough, determined. Active as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Guessing a 5th or 6th round type.

Aaron Gibson CB 5'9 179-made two nice pass break-ups against larger WR early in the game. Anticipated the pattern the WR was running on several occasions. The couple of times I saw him in the run game was not too much for sticking his head in there. Size will be a knock middle to late in draft with potential as a 3rd corner.


Oklahoma
Travis Wilson WR 6'3 216- injured late in the season, but is a big WR with decent skills. Did not get much help from QB position while healthy mid rounder.

Dusty Dvoracek DT 6'3 294- off the field stuff is well documented. Had a good year, but did not see much from him in this one in term of tackles, but the Oklahoma Lbs ran all over the place leading me to believe he was occupying the Oregon line pretty well. Guessing 3rd round type, but some teams will stay well away from him.

Davin Joseph OG 6'4 312-first day guard prospect, I did not watch closely enough, but the holes were big in the 2nd half and Ngata was not blowing up stuff regularly in the backfield. 1st day prospect as a guard who could play some tackle.

J.D. Runnels FB 6'1 245- classic blocking FB who can catch. Good diving catch for a TD. Maybe the top player at his position. In this day, that still puts him in the 4th or 5th range.

Kejaun Jones RB 5'9 200- solid player who had the misfortune having Adrian Peterson sign with Oklahoma. Will be a FA, but a guy worth watching once he gets into a camp.

Clint Ingram LB 6'2 240- the steadiest of the LBs from the Sooners. Came close to a couple of INTs until making the game winning INT on great athletic play. ILB backer guessing in the 3rd -4th round area.

Adrain Peterson RB 6'2 215- talented player, not much going in the first half. In the 3rd quarter cut his head open during a sideline celebration. In the 2nd half of the game, we saw the speed, power and determination of Peterson. Most of his mistakes are effort type where he stretches the ball or takes unneeded hits when there is no more to get out of the play. My long tern concern is that his best asset (determined style of play) will lead to too much punishment on his body.

very true. But if there is one body that looks like it can take a lot of punishment, its his.

I saw him blocking and he did a real good job on run blocking and pass blocking. run blocking, he was able to seal off his man and turn them out. On pass blocking he was smart enough to pick up blitzers and did go reaching after some if he couldn't get to them.

As a receiver, he only had the 3 catches for 14 yards and a TD, but what impressed me more was his ability to line up in the slot and show off some speed.

I feel this guy will also get left behind a bit because of the more athletic TEs like Lewis and Davis, but Tim Day would fit well in Houston. He's big enough (6'4" 270) and strong enough to be an effective blocker while being fast enough to line up in the slot or and to get down field. He's just what we need: a Tight End who can catch AND block! (what a concept!)
