I would say that the AD is accepting resumes as we speak and will be letting the OC and DC know that their opportunity to be a candidate for the HC job will be solely measured on their recruiting commitments.

Prior to his senior season, Dixon had an TD-INT ratio of 18:17.
After his junior season, Young had a ratio of 44:28.
Just cuz a guy can run & pass doesnt automatically make him Vince Young.
Unless Jamaal Charles is just as good as Reggie Bush because he is fast & agile.
And Jonathan Stewart is the Oregon RB.

I'm sure he's referring to the pre-season rankings, but it doesn't change his point. The rankings are a joke. BCS, AP, Coaches poll, it doesn't matter.
If they HAVE to do rankings, they should do it like the BCS and not come out with them until well into the season.
As for Michigan, it was nice to see them drop completely out. I think it was a couple of years or so ago that it took Florida St. to lose 4 games before they were dropped. They were clearly being voted on by reputation, and that's a joke.
College football is whack. They need to come correct and have a playoff. How stupid do you have to be to not figure out that a 16 team college football playoff would be bigger than March Madness? Oh, let's vote for a champion....yeah, that's much better.

Comparing college football to basketball is kinda ridiculous.
To ask college kids to play that many games is dumb. Football is way too violent for those kids to put their NFL careers on the line for a 20 game season. Injuries are way too frequent. Maybe if all the college players were paid (like at USC) they would do it, but that isnt gonna happen.
Also, the conferences & schools absolutely bank on the bowl games, & if there were a playoff then they wouldnt receive as much money.
Thats the world today. Money. Money. Money.

who cares about preseason polls, they don't determine anything, they're just a guage for writers, coaches, and fans to look at for the start of the season. there's nothing wrong with having preseason polls, they're just a little fun and certainly help garner interest in teams to start a season.

Then I guess college football is dumb because they just pretty much went to a 12 game regular season schedule, that doesn't include your conference championship, then a bowl game. For the slow, that's a 14 game season.
You cut the regular season back to 10, you have a 16 team playoff, where at the most, only 2 teams would be playing 4 extra games. You can still have the bowls, just play those playoff games in the same bowls you have now. And to get the rest of the bowls in, you have a seperate 16 team playoff bracket that would be similar to the NIT. That would be 30 games for 30 bowls. That's plenty.
And how would you not make as much money with a playoff? The advertising money would be ridiculous. The schools and conferences would make just as much if not MORE money.
And I wasn't comparing basketball to football.....duh. I was comparing the money that tournament makes and the casual fan interest in it to the potential I think there would be for a college football playoff system to surpass that.

I was looking forward to seeing Long & Hart both consider'ed the best @ their positions have a strong outing @ home especially after last weeks upset. guess it goes to show you just how much a team game football really is, cause while Oregon does have some talent (Dixon, Stewart) Michigan has far more talent.
VY is the benchmark for the modern day QB. nobody is saying Dixon is half the QB just that there are some similarties in playmaking abilitys. we could even get into that whole is he or isn't he NFL quality QB material, remember we had it with Vince three years ago so yes there are some familar themes along with he can really hurt you running the ball in the red zone.

Les Miles is their first choice at the moment, but that dude would be insane to leave LSU for Michigan....but it could happen.
Saban aint going to Michigan. Cameron just got a new HC job at Miami, one of the NFL's premier franchises...he aint going anywhere.
Maybe Michigan could steal Mack Brown from UT so we can finally get rid of Greg Davis (worst OC in college football).
I can't really think of any real candidates for the job that are great fits or have ties like Miles. Some big names I would call would include:

Norm Chow
Rich Rodriguez
Jon Gruden
Mike Martz
Chris Patterson
they need someone young who can stay for a while and give them stability. I would actually go with Gruden if I was them. He would be a good fit and could finally bring their offensive playbook into the 20th century much less the 21st.

Dixon did have a great game. I want to see how he does the rest of the year, though. Have to admit he made me think of Vince Young yesterday. Was it just 1 game? Time will tell.
Oh, I dunno, Dixon's running reminded me of Vince, but his passing didn't. Dixon actually threw his passes overhand, not sidearm. And he hit his receivers while they were in stride, a few right on the hands. Vince's receivers always had to stop and wait for the ball to get there.
But then what do I know. I'm just a hater.
