What do we do with it? I think drafting #2 this year is the absolute WORST draft position you could have. You won't be able to trade the pick for enough value (as you would with the Reggie Bush auction at #1), you don't need Leinert, and I don't think an OL is worth a 2nd overall pick. Wow, the Texans just keep making it harder and harder on themselves....
 
Well first of all Bush will be gone to SF at #1.

Then teams who might be looking at Leinhart are Det, Balt, and NYJ

Balt will prob pick around 9-12
Det will pick around 6-10
Jets top 4

We can still get a good trade value for this.

the nfl has our strength of schedule at .567 and the niners at .585

SF wont beat us. They are worse then we are. Plus anyways you said SF has .585 and we have a .567 they would pick 1st because the SoS is tougher than our is.
 
SOS is the winning percentage of the oppoenents you've played. In other words,the higher the number, the stronger your schedule.

So if SF's is at .585 and Houston is at .567, then Houston has played the weaker schedule and would get priority over SF in the draft...as it stands right now.

does it matter since we will beat SF anyways... This topic shouldnt even matter both team will go into the last game 2-13. The winner gets 2nd pick and loser 1st pick... bottom line
 
I wouldn't get your hopes up because of this game. If Kurt Warner played the entire game we would have been blown out by the Cardinals.
 
well considering our Our Poor qb play even againts terrible defenses i dont see how we wont look at Matt Leinert ive heard some scout say he could be every good as P. Manning but who knows we have david carr we dont need a qb since david is so good.

Matt won't be as good as Peyton. He doesn't have the arm strength. I can see him being a better Chad Pennington before the injuries.

The Niners only lost to them by 1 today, and you guys are a better team than we are. I wouldnt worry about the strength of schedule, its not gonna matter unless one of us wins next week, GO TEXANS.

Totally disagree, many teams will want to move up. Agreed that it is not the first pick, but I dont want a team losing on purpose and looking like men with no Honor representing our town.

You have the option of still trading down or taking D'Brick or AJ Hawk. You can take Hawk here and get a LT later since there are a few good ones in this draft.

But I imagine the Lions, Jets and possibly Miami might want to look at Leinert who seems to be more of a bust than a star.
 
what's even worst about this win is we will most likely finish 3-13 now. meaning SF will have the worst record at 2-14 and we might be tied with the Jets, Packers, & Saints. So this win today could end up costing us major draft position. We could drop down to #5!!!
 
I wouldn't worry too much about most of our competition as far as draft position is conserned. As of right now it looks like we are going to draft O-line with our 1st rounder. If there's an opportunity to trade down then we can get some more first day picks. From there we get our O-lineman and some needed help elsewhere on the roster.
 
I dont really need D'brick, there are a few good Tackles in this draft. So I would not mind trading down to #6-9 and getting more picks. I like Huff from Texas as a Safety and most have him listed as a high second rounder and he would add the speed we need in the secondary.

actually every place ive seen has Huff as a mid first rounder.
 
The only reason I wanted the 1st was to get more picks with it. The second won't get as many or maybe as good of picks, but it's still has value and I won't have to listen to 6 months of whinning from either the should/should not camps of the Reggie constituancy.

Interesting side bar on the selection if it comes down to SOS, whoever gets the first pick based on SOS then the one who gets the 2nd pick gets the 1st pick in the 2nd round. They swap positions. Not sure if that continues through all rounds, but I think so.
 
I don't think the second pick will draw near the attention the first would have unless, USC behind Matt Lienert, lights up the scoreboard against Texas in the Rose Bowl. If he has a good game his value will rise or if Vince throws his hat in the ring after a solid Rose Bowl then the top few picks might be more valuable.
 
i agree considering that they already have beaten the rams this year when bulger was the quarterback and when they actually had some form of a secondary.

there might just be an alex smith touchdown sighting for the first time.
