Ok, day 1 is over...

WE NEED OFFENSIVE WEAPONS!!!

You don't win much scoring 5 field goals a game. I think it's safe to say that the defense has been taken care of. Now it's time to turn to skill positions with what's left over of the Thanksgiving Turkey carcass that is Day 2.

Kubiak needs to step up and give David some tools to win with. I have sat in Reliant Stadium for 4 years now and have seen enough of 1, 2, 3, kick.

Well, Moulds and Putzier aren't chopped liver.

As for the line, we've now brought in 3 new players this offseason, 2 of them rookies. We have a great line coach (Mike Sherman) and a HC that knows a little bit about productive OLines.

I wanted Bush myself, but that one pick aside, it's hard to fault ANYTHING that's happened this offseason.

You can have all the weapons in the world and not be effective if you have no time to throw...Our offense has been stymied in the past many times because we were forced to be in max protect in order to compensate for our lack of pass protection...If you don't think Carr is ecstatic tonight, then you are crazy...

Besides, we have added Moulds, Putzier, Walter, and Cook this offseason at "skill positions", leaving us with Davis and Morency at RB, Cook at FB, AJ, Moulds, Walter, Mathis, and Armstrong at WR, and Putzier and (presumably/hopefully) Joppru at TE...How many more weapons do we need?

If we drafted Reggie, I dont know how we can spread the ball any more thinner.

I think Manning spreads the ball well enough. Getting Carr another option for when one of the others is having a bad day wouldn't hurt.

Hmmm....we add Moulds, Putzier, Walter, Flanagan,Cook in offseason...we add Spencer and Winston to OL. I believe we have added some weapons to our offense ( Bush would have been over the top). Most likely, Simpson is our 4th round pick....I wouldn't mind seeing us get D. Williams with extra 4th or R. McNeal ( Slash) in 6th. Oh, by some miracle, Joppru might show up this training camp.

Peyton also has one of the best OLs in the NFL...Passing on OL for an offensive "weapon" would be an unbelievably foolish move...

This ain't about Reggie Bush, over that already.

This is about no depth at the skill positions. Who's the 3rd or 4th option at WR? Armstrong should be given a chance (I hope), that leaves Mathis. Big deal. Running back? DD gimps up after the first 8 games, and Morency is still raw. Hopefully Wells will be there.

It will take more than a few FAs and a coaching staff to fix a stagnant and anemic offense.

Barry Sanders had an awful offense of line and he managed pretty well. Not to mention that he didn't have the benefit of an effective passing game. I'm not saying Bush is Sanders but with all of the weapons on offence I think with Kubiac's scheme the line would be fine.

Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl because they won the battle of the of the lines on both sides of the ball. In fact, most championships are won that way. We did a lot to improve our front seven and O-line. It isn't flashy, but it is the route to success.

at RB:

morency - same running ability as DD, meaning we will be fine if he is the immediate backup

And is exactly what brought us to 2-14 last year. Yes I was hopeing a couple of offensive weapons would slide. Didn't happpen. So we give up next years 2 and go get Lelie smart guy ? We could do it. But you don't build a championship team by throwing picks away. Go look up the number of draft picks starting for the SB particapants. I don't know enough about Ryans to pass a judgement. But at least he's a warm body that can callenage for a spot. That's an improvement from the last regeime. Wanna catch the colts ? Keep your GD draft picks and make wise choices with them. Quit reading Justice. It will only confuse you.

It's one route to success, not the only one, despite what Casserly wants you to believe.

Take out Moulds and Walter and it's the 2005 offense...

Maybe -- MAYBE Sanders didn't have an effective line, I can't really comment since I was about 12 when he was playing and I didn't pay attention to line play, but to say that the Lions had no passing game is ridiculous...Scott Mitchell won't be a Hall of Famer, but he was an effective QB, and they had a pretty decent WR named Herman Moore, you may want to look him up...123 receptions in a year is somewhat impressive...

An ineffective line will cripple a promising offense...With our line from last year, teams would only have to rush their 4 down linemen, leaving 7 to drop into coverage...We send 3 receiving options out, and use 7 to block...7 players covering 3 is not good odds for us...

Let me see...in 2004, DC threw for over 3500 yards...DD rushed for 1100 yards plus...this happen with an average OL that gave up 40 plus sacks...still an improvement over previous two years. So what happen in 2004...the old staff jacked with OL ( Riley),...fired Palmer....so we sucked for the whole season. New staff comes in...we upgraded our OL alot....anything is better than Bradford and Gaffney....Moulds, Putzier, Walter, Mathis ( maybe he puts more effort in being a better WR instead of riding motorcycles in his offtime)

Why not give us some of your suggestions for weapons? ehh...

Other than Putzier, Flannigan, Cook, Spencer(R), Winston(R), Kubiak, and Sherman.

Hell, between these guys and the two you mentioned, there are at least four new starters on offense. Maybe one or two more depending on how Winston and Spencer progress.
