Offense,offense, offense!!

I knew that the NFL was trending towards making the rules easier for the offense to score. But man, this is just getting ridiculous. Watched the Steelers vs colts and now Packers @ Saints...defense, what defense?

Sucks doesn't it?

I really dont like this kind of football. I enjoy a 17-14 game much more than a game like the steelers and colts. I like to see good defense played out there also, not just recievers going crazy and racking up yrds abd tds. But thats just me.

As an avid fantasy football player I prefer less scoring. That way when you nail the right picks it's a bigger deal because there are more duds!
Suppose most of the scoring comes largely from role players and not the "stars"?
:)

Yeah, I like offense just as much as anyone, but I actually like defense too. And these days the defense is severely handicapped. I mean, every time you turn around there's an illegal contact, automatic 1st down, and it's really taking away from the game. Can't touch a QB, can't hit a receiver.

Might as well cut the field in half and play the games in the Toyota Center.

This offensive push is a regular season bonanza.

But, never forget what wins championships, as evidenced by last year's Super Bowl champion (and the one before that, too).

Last Super Bowl, one of the greatest offensive units in NFL history took the field, along with their HoF QB, and was systematically dismantled and completely dominated by one of the best defenses in football history.

Offense puts butts in the seats and draws advertisement dollars, but once the playoffs begin, the war of attrition that is pro football starts to balance things out and we see good defenses really start to make their impact.

I find it a bit annoying that defenders are in an almost no win situation with the current rules in place. It really makes me appreciate how difficult it used to be for receivers to make catches. I'm nowhere near the point to where "I can't watch this type of football', but it would be more entertaining to allow harder nosed coverage on WR's.

4 teams over 40 points yesterday,

4 QBs over 400 yards passing(Brady only had 354),

Was yesterday a great day in the NFL?

Nope

Some of the football was unwatchable. The interference call on the Packers last night just proves how easy it would be to rig NFL games. Sad part is how great the NFL used to be.

Watching the Steelers beat the Colts I found myself musing: "if this is the blueprint to beat Indy... We're screwed"

Same here. And yes, it sucks.

I was looking at some QB stats yesterday and I had the thought that 400 is the new 300. 500? That's just obscene.

I don't like how defensive penalties are often automatic first downs. Maybe offensive holding should be an automatic punt.

I've been saying this for years now. This is the direction the NFL wants to go. They want to draw in the casual fans. And it's working, just look at the numbers. The NFL is as popular as it has ever been.

But to the hardcore fans, this is a blow. I watch football as much as I can during the season, it doesn't matter who is playing. But some of these games are just unwatchable to me.
