Driving this year's draft is the need to upgrade our offense at multiple positions; and to do this I'm willing to go into training camp with our current defensive lineup. Next year, with our first and two number twos, if our defense needs to be addressed, we can look to our defense, but this year I want to see the Texans use our four early picks to address our offense. And this year's draft will have quality prospects available to us.

The draft is always unpredictable, especially as deep into it as the 3rd round, but ideally here's the way I'd like to see it fall to the Texans:

3/68: OG... Brandon Smith...6'-6"/315 lbs...Auburn
3/80: Return Specialist/Slot receiver... Dante Pettis...6'-1"/186 lbs...4.45 forty...Washington
3/98: OT... Brandon Parker...6'-8"/305 lbs...North Carolina
4/103: TE..Dalton Schultz...6'-5"/245 lbs...Stanford

Other, alternate selections are:
OG... Austin Corbett
OT... Tyrell Crosby
OT...Brian O'Neill
Receiver...Deon Cain
Receiver...Tre'Quan Smith
Receiver... Michail Gallop
TE...Hayden Hurst

If we could manage to get three or four players from this list of 11, I'd really like the way the team would be shaping up going forward.
 
On second look, maybe you mean Mock Draft Talk. I haven't been visiting there, but if you want to move my post there, I'm OK with that. There was no need for the tone of your response.

Yes, realistically, he may go late first or high second round. More important for my draft is Dalton Schultz looks projected to around the mid-80's, which means I have to pencil him in to our 3/80 pick.

Also realistically, it's looking like Pettis will not be there at 3/80, so I'm looking at Tre'Quan Smith with 4/103.
 
The first round went well from my perspective and sets the Texans up for a solid third round.

This draft is deep in mid-round talent and I’ve chosen to go with bubbles of players at the four positions I’d like to see the team address in the third and forth rounds.

At OT: Tyrell Crosby, Brian O’Neil, Martina’s Rankin, Alex Cappa and Will Richardson.

At OG: Austin Corbett, Branden Smith and Wyatt Teller.

At TE Hayden Hurst (taken at 1/25), Ian Thomas and Dalton Schultz.

At WR: Deon Cain, Dante Pettis, Tre’Quan Smith and Michael Gallup.

Almost all these players carry solid third round grades. Which players are taken at which draft positions will be determined how the second round goes. And of course the team’s evaluations. I’d like all picks to go offense but I expect at least one defensive pick. Stay tuned.

Edit: I left off Brandon Parker, the OT I’m targeting. The coaching staff got a good look at his talent at the Senior Bowl and I’m hoping they like. He should be available at 3/98, leaving our first two picks available for other needs.

I'm kind of hoping we trade down on our last 3rd round and pick up a 4th and 5th.

If we come away with Brandon Parker, Corbett, and Tre'Quan Smith, I'll be thrilled. Teller would also be acceptable.

When you’re a younger sibling, sometimes it can feel like you’re walking in the shadow of the older sibling. Well, what if your older brother was a five-year NFL veteran, and you were an NFL hopeful at his same position?

Justin Reid is a former Stanford safety and one of the newest members of the Houston Texans after getting taken with pick No. 68 in the third round. His older brother is Pro Bowler Eric Reid, former free safety for the San Francisco 49ers who’s now a free agent.

Justin is the youngest of Eric and Ryan, the middle Reid brother.
The three grew up in a pretty rivalry-friendly household. In an interview with NBC Sports, Eric said Justin being treated differently as the youngest child egged him and his brother Ryan on:

“He was the baby, so my parents always treated him like a baby. Me and Ryan hated that, so we would always go that much harder on him,” the now 25-year-old Eric told NBC Sports Bay Area from the 49ers’ locker room after a recent practice. “Whether it was video games, sports or whatever. We just always made sure we beat him into the ground.”

Justin may have been smaller than his older siblings, but he was every bit as competitive. And he had a plan for payback.

“Whenever we weren’t around, he would just practice, practice, practice until he got better than us,” Eric said.

At age 12, Justin landed his first knockout in Dragon Ball Z, one of the brothers’ favorite video games.

“One day, I could never beat him any more at video games,” Eric said through a smile. “I was like, ‘OK. I guess I’m not playing that any more.’”

Justin said that he’s learned a lot from Eric, who has admitted that his younger brother is now faster than he is. It’s only fitting that Justin pursue an NFL career at safety like Eric. But they’re not the same in every respect.
