Young will come out regardless of who is in position to take him. He will be in the top 3 picks. McNair has made it clear that he will keep Carr in the fold. What that guarantees VY, he probably goes #2 to NO. They are close enough to home to draw the additional fans. Bottom line, Benson makes this call because in the long run it's all about marketing, business and money not to mention you may eventually see VY wearing his new San Antonio Saints jersey. He's only 2 1/2 hrs from home and 45 minutes from a tremendous fan base in Austin, Benson is way ahead of us on this one. Who knows, he may even be exploring what it may take to trade up with us to ensure this financial windfall for the Saints.
Lienart reunites with Chow in Tenn at #3. Lienart should have come out last year if being selected #1 was important to him. This year, even though he was a better QB, his fate was sealed by the dynamic performances of Bush and Young. If Houston trades the #1 pick, then it will be Bush reuniting with Chow at #3.
Either way VY is going to get some serious cash and major endorsement deals today if he comes out. He will be advised not to return to UT and risk injury to add a Heisman to his resume. His stock will not be any higher than it is right now. If Houston trades the #1 pick, the team that makes the move will more than likely have their eyes set on VY. Winning the Rose Bowl with that performance is like having the Heisman on your mantle, he cannot do anything next year to improve on being selected #1 this year.
Young has really upset the applecart for Bush and Lienert, he not only won the Rose Bowl but may have dropped the USC boys to #2 and #3. Both have Heismans and both may be selected behind VY.
