"Four Notre Dame players are expected to be suspended from football activities after an internal investigation into academic misconduct, sources told ESPN.

DaVaris Daniels had 49 catches for 745 yards for Notre Dame before being suspended after the 2013 season for undisclosed academic violations.
The players allegedly violated the university's honor code by receiving improper help on classwork.

Starting wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive back KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and reserve linebacker Kendall Moore were the players involved, along with some non-student-athletes, a source said.

The NCAA routinely will let the school investigate any potential allegations before determining whether any further NCAA punishment is warranted.

All four players were part of Notre Dame's 2012 team, which lost in the BCS national title game to Alabama. Daniels and Russell were starters on that team. Williams was projected to start this year as well.

Depleted Receiving Corps
With DaVaris Daniels expected to be suspended from football activities, Notre Dame would be without its top three wide receivers from a year ago. Its top returning receiver would now be Chris Brown (15 catches in 2013).

-- ESPN Stats & Information
Williams and Moore are seniors this season, Daniels and Russell are juniors. The Fighting Irish are ranked No. 17 in the preseason USA Today/Coaches' poll.

A source told ESPN that the four players did not practice Friday.

This is the second incident in the past two years involving academic misconduct and the football team.

Last year, starting quarterback Everett Golson was dismissed from school for what he said was "poor academic judgment," but was reinstated this spring. Daniels had been suspended for the spring semester for undisclosed academic violations but also was reinstated in late May.

The investigation was first reported by Yahoo Sports."

ESPN's Joe Schad contributed to this report.

Now that's not nice...but it is funny.

Haters gonna hate.

Some universities/fans don't understand the concept of "student" athletes.

ND will not compromise its' integrity.

Football is not as important as education, just compare graduation rates of athletes from ND to any other school.

Is Jameis Winston still playing college football?

Where are FSU's priorities?

Why did Pete Carroll leave USC?

Must have started that integrity program after Lou Holtz left... :splits:

I've never really had a problem with Notre Dame but the self righteous act wears thin after a while, and this is a Texas fan saying that.

Notre Dame has always acted like they have higher standards than the average program and I never had reason to doubt them. But they either stopped that 30+ years ago or it never actually existed.

Lou Holtz's last two jobs before Notre Dame hired him were at Arkansas and Minnesota. Arkansas fired him because he was using his status as coach to make campaign advertisements for a North Carolina Senator who was trying to block Martin Luther King Day from becoming a national holiday. He then went to Minnesota and managed to put them on probation in only two years before Notre Dame hired him away. He then put Notre Dame on probation during his time there. But at least they won some championships. I can see how they never compromised their integrity at all during that time.

And now that Brian Kelly has taken over there have been numerous incidents in just the past few years. Let's not even get into the Declan Sullivan fiasco.

So it's pretty obvious at this point that Notre Dame has the same win at all costs mentality as any of the other top programs in the country. They just aren't honest about it. Seeing the truth doesn't make fans of other programs "haters".

yeah, well other than that, what's your point.

Damn Bah spittin' truth. Btw, Holtz also got South Carolina put under probation.

Also, to the Notre Dame fan, if ND has such high standards and being a "student athlete" is a big deal there then why were the two backups (Moore and Williams) dismissed from the team but the two starters (Daniels and Russell) were not?
