Nose Tackle Play?

Rookie
I noticed that DeLoach got an ankle injury, but the nose tackle play regardless has to be better. One of the main reasons for not enough pressure on the QB, is the failure of the nose to tack on two offensive linemen. That is the sole job in the 3-4. If you look at the best in the league, Washington and Hampton, their stats aren't great, but they take on two blockers, allowing their linebackers to stunt and create havoc. Our nose tackles are being played man on man, allowing the remaining offensive lineman to pick up a linebacker or passrusher. I know this is only one game, but until Payne comes back, truly healthy, this will remain a problem. G-Funk and Smith will pick up their sack total, once the Nose Tackle picks up a few extra blocks! :boxing:

NT is definately a concern in the 3-4. Seth is still a little slow, and he's not yet in playing shape. Hpefully he'll make major strides this week because if not then we could be in trouble. I don't think blitzing all the time will help much against Detroit because they can simply do as we did against SD. Throw a screen pass to Jones, and leave it to the secondary to tackle him. I don't mind an agressive approach, but with Babin still being a liability in coverage it doesn't leave much mystery as to who's coming on a blitz. Wong is one of our best LBs in coverage, and if you send him and Babin then that leaves Foreman or Sharper on their TE (Alexander) who's a pretty good reciever. If you send 5 then there's a chance that you still won't get any pressure on the QB if they pick it up, and he'll be able to pick apart the secondary. If you send 6 or 7 then that leaves the screen pass open. Wouldn't mind seeing a corner blitz from Dunta in the NB when they go 3 wide every now and then.
