Non Mentioned FA Players I'd like to see

Texas

Veteran
Heres a few players I beleive that could really improve our team overall that havent really been mentioned yet.

Adam Archuleta - We need a safety to replace Marcus Coleman. Archuleta is rather old but still a tough player and very explosive. Something I beleive our D-Fence needs.

Mike Alstott - Im sorry but Morran Norris just doesnt convince me that he is the FB we need. We could do without alstott but i'd still like to see him in a texans uniform.

Troy Brown - He's a reliable guy. I think we could use someone with the experience he has.

Nate Burleson - A nice possibility if all else fails.

Nate Clements - Could really compliment Dunta Robinson. Then we'd have two shutdown corners. Could be a cap threat though.

Deshaun Foster - Would be a good backup to DD. However a cap hit

Laroi Glover - Oh Yes..Strong player who could add explosiveness to our D. Since we are going to run the 4-3 i'd like him on there.

Chris Hope - Another good safety that could take the place of Marcus Coleman.

Brad Hopkins - We've needed a line for 4 years. Need a say more?

Cato June - What a power house. We could use the guy!

Ty Law -a Nice CB but too damn expensive.

Kevin Mawae - We need a new center. For those who beleive we dont. He could also be a Guard.

Lawyer Malloy - Another safety that could take the place of Coleman.

Jon Runyan - I think he is good

Junior Seau

Tank Williams - A hard hitter that could bring up our S position

I'd like to get all of your opinions on this

Off of your list, the only one I would really be interest in the Texans getting is Chris Hope. Others are too long in the tooth or play a position I don't think we have a need for.

I would add Witherspoon at LB (he has been mentioned a couple of times but so has Chris Hope).:twocents:

Norris is one of the best run-blocking fullbacks in the leauge.

FYI

Alstott is about to re-sign with the Bucs.

Nate Clements has been franchise tagged.

DeShaun Foster is transition tagged and is about to re-sign with Carolina plus he makes DD look like the rock of Gibralter injury wise.

LaRoi Glover has signed with St. Louis.

Cato June is a RFA who received a mid-tender so the Texans would have to pay a 1st round pick to get him.

A lot of these older folks have been overlooked by our organization from the get go. That is one of the things that has caused us to get to 2-14, lack of veteran leadership.

Is this really the problem? How many vets does it take to have vet leadership? On O last year we had Wiegert in his 11th year, McKinney in his 8th year, Bruener in his 11th year, Bradford in his 8th year--on D last year we had Walker in his 11th year, Payne in his 9th year, Smith in his 6th year, Coleman in his 10th year, Simmons in his 8th year, Wong in his 8th year, Polk in his 6th year. It has always seemed people are too quick to view any vet as adding leadership IMO--some do, some don't. Are there any of the guys above who have demonstrated leadership skills beyond just being senior vets? I'd say Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law and Junior Seau all have. Law is going to be way too expensive. Seau is about to throw a birthday party for his son, father time. Lawyer Milloy might be someone with enough left in the tank to add with his leadership.

That is a very good point, but we also let go of Glenn and Sharper, and I wouldn't Wiegert, McKinney and Bruener on the same level as those two. Wiegert, McKinney and Bruener don't really have a lot of accolades, they are borderling starters. I guess I should have prefaced it with QUALITY veteran leadership, not stop gaps.

you ask for an opinion and here it is..Deshaun Foster as a backup to domanick Davis.. How about the other way around? But then again domanick davis would be a very overpaid overated backup.

Archuleta, Williams, and Malloy both play SS which would give the defense 3 SS and no true FS. Hope would work there. Heck, Marlon McCree and Dexter Jackson would be better fits than those 3.

Seau has played something like 10 games in the past 2 seasons. He's a situational OLB at this point in his career.

Runyon and Hopkins would be upgrades as far as pure ability and talent goes. I'm not sure if either has the mobility to be great zone blocking tackles, though.

I'd honestly rather bring back Wells to play alongside Morency and Davis than overspend for Foster. With Bush still seeming like the most likely pick it would be money wasted.

Mawae is coming off an injury and is still going to command good money. The team doesn't know what they have in Hodgdon and have a good chance at Mangold in the 2nd round. The team can put their 12 million to better use.

So what FA's are out there that add both quality play and have demonstrably been leaders?

cant we all admit that we just wish we had not let A. Glenn go...i mean he was old but was still one of the top cover corners in the league, how many arms and legs will it take to get him back, i have 2 of each any other givers :challenge

There goes 3/4s of your list.

Darren Howard and Anthony Weaver, both of these guys would be good additions to the team. Weaver still has alot of upside and Howard would bring in alot of experience and leadership.

I'd throw in Glover and Arrington and Adams right off the bat. But I'd have to look and see who is avail, but it's way to early, players get let go all the way through June.

Nate Burleson had a great year when he wasn't the Vikings #1 receiver. He played 2004 opposite Randy Moss.

2004 MIN
Games 16
Catches 68
Yards 1006
Avg 14.8
TD 9

Could be a good cheap complement to our #1 AJ.

He is a restricted free agent.

I wouldn't mind seeing Andre Dyson come in... something has to be done at the corner position to correc the 'PB31 Incident'... which is incidentally, a great name for a new rock band.

**Edited: Sorry, I originally wrote Azumah, but was thinking Dyson -- how I got those two confused is almost embarrassing***

so u dont think faggins can do the job opposite of D-rob, cause i dont.

I like Faggins, but he fits in the nickel... tough to put him on an island by himself. Made some poor decisions... I definitely think he is a solid #3 CB. Tought tackler... much better than PB31 and his Roger Dorn "ole" tackling.

true, i liked marlon mcree to be honest with you, but he lacked size to be a 1 on 1 cover corner. atleast thats what i thought, but he started on a prety good team this season so what do i know.

Mcree is a strong safey not a corner.

Lets face some of these HAVE been really good players are way past the best. Some of the others would cost us a fortune. I would rather build through the draft and bring younger players in. Heck that may take a bit longer to build a team that will challenge for the play offs but its also less likely that we'd end up in salary cap hell like Titans and Jets.

I think the this was a joke just to make people laugh. Some of these players are good, have been good, but none of them will likely be on this team. An interesting look at some lesser talked about names though.
