Nnamdi Asomugha carted off field at practice

I noticed an update on the site but I have no idea when it was posted.

UPDATE: Early signs are positive. Joselio Hanson told Philly reporters that Asomugha’s injury “looked bad but he’ll be alright.”

Good news, of course, but as a Texan fan I can't help but feel a twinge of frustration that our follow up news always seems to go the other way.

It sucks, I understand. But this should ease our fears about our coaching predicament. They're truly having to earn their pay right now.

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t given a good indication what Nnamdi Asomugha’s(notes) availability for Sunday’s game with the New England Patriots is, but the cornerback wasn’t seriously injured Thursday as was originally feared.

Asomugha fell to the ground and was carted off the field during Thursday’s practice, but Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported there is no structural damage and surgery will not be required.

Still, it’s not known if he’ll be ready to face Tom Brady(notes), Wes Welker(notes) and Co. with the Eagles back into a corner because of their brutal start to the season. Asomugha is likely to have an MRI.

“It looked bad, but they said he was going to be all right, expecting to come back tomorrow and practice," fellow cornerback Joselio Hanson(notes) said, per the report.
