Nice Ragone/NFL Europe write up

Doom Capers

Waterboy
1. Dave Ragone (Houston Texans), QB, Berlin. The league's offensive MVP, Ragone was accurate and productive -- completing a league-best 63 percent of his passes for 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions. But that's just the beginning: His streak of 174 attempts without an interception was an NFL-Europe record; he won seven of 10 starts; and he led the league with a 97.5 passer rating and 1,746 passing yards. Ragone never looked better than in the World Bowl where he completed 30 of 48 for 328 yards and came this close to completing a last-second comeback from a 24-7 deficit. He has an above-average arm and adequate mobility, but he doesn't have the slingshot of, say, his Texans' teammate David Carr. "He absolutely knows where he's going to go with the ball," said one AFC scout, "and he's going to beat you with timing." His poise in the pocket reminds you of another NFL Europe graduate, Jake Delhomme, and it may be as hard for Ragone to get a crack at starting in the NFL as it was for Delhomme, who sat for five years in New Orleans. "The flaw in this guy's game," said another scout, "is that he plays behind David Carr. He won't get a chance until he leaves Houston."

That would make an interesting decision on Ragone's behalf. Should one stay with a classy organization but yet, remain backup (I'm sure the eventual #2) - or look for a team that is needing a QB, but yet is not the best of teams... and I won't "name a team" for fear of a quick retribution.

Sounds like someone is beckoning the Texans to make a crazy move and get rid of Ragone.

Yes except that if the price is right it's absolutely not a crazy move. Ragone has always been a prospective piece of trade bait. He'll net us a 2 or, maybe if we're really, really lucky a low 1 someday.

Id take a 2nd for him in a heartbeat. I like Ragone and id like to see him start somewhere.. but not in Houston.. not so long as we have Carr.

Getting a 2nd for him would be awesome.

Like trade up to get that franchise OT. :highfive:

Even with Ragone and the x-tra draft picks, will it be enough to get to the top 5 picks, because that is where D'Brickshaw Ferguson or Eric Winston will probably be.

maybe if we threw in a 2nd and 3rd round pick. there's gotta be a team that would take that. i'm only guessing ,but we'll probably be a 15-25 pick. i don't know exactly how trading up works and what each pick is worth, but is our number 1 pick around 20 and then the 2nd and 3rd round enough to make a move into the top 5?
