NFL DraftCountdown Mock Update

Dang, why do so many of these mocks keep teasing us about Peterson ?
Do they just like to torment Texans fans ?
Outside of Calvin Johnson, there is no single player I hear as many superlatives about as AD. I Think it just defies logic for anyone to seriously entertain the notion that 9 picks will be made before AD is drafted.
 
If Peterson is there, you have to take him, unless someone offers the farm. I would be looking for a swap of #1's, a #2 and #3 this year, and maybe their #3 next year depending on exactly how far we have to move down. If I got that or something in that range, I would swap, otherwise I stay and take AD. Nobody else in this draft would impact this years Texans team anywhere near as much as AD, and that includes Calvin Johnson. With AP, I think we win 9-10 games this year.

Having said that, it's still a longshot. I give it maybe 10 to at best 20% chance he slides that far. But, you never know....

How could you prefer somebody in the second round when we don't pick in the second round?

The issuse with a trade down is whom do you pass on to trade down, and who do you trade down with?

Peterson in the first and Davis in the third would be a great 1st day.

Including Calvin Johnson?? Why are you so in love with this guy anyway? Is it the PR or 'buzz' factor? If he did fall to #10, wouldn't you be the least but curious as to why 9 other teams passed on him? I would.
 
Nobody's gonna swap 1st , plus give you a 2nd and 3rd pick for AD .

Last year it was Bush , next year it'll be McFadden . AD is not a better prospect than those two and the rights to Reggie got us what ?

Notice I said this year. You really think Calvin Johnson would impact the Texans ability to win games more than AD this year? Now, if you want to talk about which one presents the longer term value, I would probably take Johnson.

I see AP as I did when the Oilers took Earl Campbell. Sure, he burnt out in about 5 years, but he almost single handedly dragged the Oilers into the SB. Granted, they had a good D, but Earl made them better than they were.

Having a premium rusher like that with Ahman Green coming in off the bench, would imo, be at worst the second best duo in the NFL next to SD, and would take so much pressure off of Schaub, the oline, and the D. The Defense would not only get more rest, but would also allow them to play with a lead far more often, allowing our expensive pass rushers to do their thing.

If they somehow do get AP, I seriousely consider them a playoff contender this year. Going from Carr/Dayne to Schaub/AP/AG is like going from Rosie O'Donnell to Halle Berry. :devilpig:
