NEW YORK — The NFL may seek a new host city for its annual player draft in 2009 after 43 years in New York City.
San Diego, Chicago, Cleveland and Canton, Ohio, have campaigned to host the draft, which has been held in the Big Apple since 1965, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said.

The league could consider new host cities after its two-year contract with Radio City Music Hall expires next year.

Radio City will host the NFL draft for the second year in a row this weekend

I think they should rotate the draft site among the 32 NFL cities. Give evey fan-base a chance to host the draft, and a bunch more fnas a chance to see the draft live.

I think Canton would be an excellent place. Might give some perspective to the younger players to see the draft at the HOF.

I've been to Canton and it is awesome, etc. Would certainly recommend it to everyone who has an opportunity to check it out.
But really the Draft is too big for Canton IMO. Its one of the top sports events in the country now and too much commercial opportunites for far bigger places that have hub air service, ample hotel accomdations, etc.

went through Ohio a few years back on my way to Canada...we went through Dayton and Cinci. Was an hour or two away from Canton...my biggest regret of that trip was deceiding to not make that detour. :brickwall:
