New Fan Tradition

All right fellow Texans fans – we’re trying to start a new tradition. All fans are invited to participate!

The Bull Pen Pep Band will play in Budweiser Plaza starting at 5:50pm for 20 minutes and then march into the stadium at 6:15pm. Fans are invited and encourage to join with the band and march up the ramps to the BullPen Pub (behind sections 116 and 117). Follow the band and make as much noise as you can!

They will then play a couple of songs until around 6:30pm.

A lot of people have worked to get this going, so please join me in Bud Plaza and let’s support our Texans!!

Great news!

This is actually an old tradition that stopped because the band had erratic and changing schedules but it is fantastic that they listened to us and are making sure the band is there.

I remember how the kids really loved it.

I plan on leaving the tailgate at 6:05 to be sure to be there. Let's start it up again!
 
Nice idea especially for people who like getting in early.


After they drop you guys off in the Bull Pen can they ride the escalators up to the 500 section with us?
 
We marched up there with the band at the last game, or should I said I did noone else showed up. Part of the reason the band left early. The band was a little dissapopinted noone was at the Bull Pen bar to watch and dance.

This sounds fun!!! I get into Houston on Wed night...so I will be pumped and ready by Thursday...

I will be there with bells on!

The secret is getting the word out!! Like YANK said, everyone is invited. The Bullpen Pub has some new stuff going on this year also. Some great pics on the walls, food, and better selection of beer's, so I've been told anyway. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to check it out at the last game. This should be a FUN thing for everyone, and a great way to meet fellow TEXANS! Let's make it work guys/gals!
 
If you guys want maximum participation want to revive this tradition/spread the word, etc., you might want to convey this as marching into the STADIUM with the band otherwise some people may see this as just a Bull Pen thing. Isn't that the way it's already described somewhere? (marching into the stadium ... bullpen.com maybe?). I would also suggest getting it listed in print on those game day event cards they give you when you drive through the gate.

Anyway, I know they've been doing this for years but from what I've seen, people enjoy walking up the ramps with the band regardless of where they sit or where the band ends up. For whatever reason, we're usually walking up the ramps at the same time the band goes up - at the Ford Gate - and it's a cool way to enter the stadium no matter where your final destination is once you get inside.

Shadow (Aaron) will be at this game with his football team. I told him to tell his coach about this and have the boys join in the fun. They can walk in with the band, have some fun listening to the music, and just get all pumped up for the game. THEN they can go up to wherever the seats are that the TEXANS gave them! My guess is the 600 section somewhere!:texflag:

We have been asking to change that for years. We were told they would work with us to do it.

What matters most is that the Bull Pen Band has been mandated to start it again and it is up to us to make it work. I will be there with my clan.

Tell everyone you know.
 
We probably won't regularly participate as we enter from the opposite side of the stadium. I am glad this tradition is continuing, because you can HEAR the band playing loudly and fans yelling HOUSTON. . .TEXANS!
It energizes you before you even get inside!:fans:

I will find out what happened.
 
Thanks to the fans that did make it up the ramp. My ears are still ringin. Lol. Look forward to seein y'all at the next event.

The scoop...

We got an e-mail from Holly saying the band would be going up at 6:10 and to make sure everyone we know was there. We told everyone we knew to be there.

When the band came by at our tailgate, Lamar seemed surprised that we were going to start doing that again and said they will be headed up at 5:50. By then it was too late to tell all the people (it was almost 5:30 then).

I spoke with Holly about it at halftime and she said she would get to the bottom of it. I feel someone above her made a decision (just like what happened when this tradition was killed before).

If we have a set time we can continue this tradition but it is ALL up to upper management.
