New 2012 NFL Mock Draft

DFlo

Practice Squad
Hey guys, I've updated my mock draft to reflect the standings so far this season.

You can check it out here: 2012 NFL Mock Draft

I fixed some of the backgrounds to make the text more readable so let me know if you can't read any.

Had a really tough time on the Texans pick. There was two equally good prospects we considered for that pick, and we went with who we felt would have more of an impact.

I would love to hear your feedback!

Too difficult to read still and doubt I'll review again. You really should fix that. I'd rather see black and white and enjoy the read. I spent ten minutes anyway because I enjoy reading mocks.

I had FUller on my first mock but he has really been only average this season. He should have been go to guy in loss against Kansas State.

After Claiborne (who I see as a top 20 pick) there seems to be a solid group of CB's late 1st. Janoris Jenkins (don't think Ravens go CB again after taking Jimmy Smith last year) Chase Minnifield (who fits Texans style) & Stephon Gilmore (who could project to be a FS).

In your opinion, breaking down their game, how do they compare to Kareem Jackson coming out of Alabama?

Deep WR class I guess Mohamad Sanu should wait to come out but where would he fit in this group if he did declare for the draft?

I find it really interesting you have so many OT's even OG/C going in the first, yet I have a hard time convincing people it wouldn't be a bad idea for the Texans to grab one in the 2nd/3rd while you can still get starting caliber OL help.

No Alameda Ta'amu? see you have Brandon Thompson as your top rated DT, but not so much a fit for Texans (more of a UT 4-3 DT good pick for Tampa). Yes Texans do need WR help, but unless one of the big boys drop (Floyd) or surprise underclassman declare (Sanu) I think Wade gets his ideal or as close as he can find NT first. His play so far has been hampered playing with cast on his right hand (broken bone) which I beleive just came off, plus teammate, 6-foot-2, 334-pound Tokolahi just came back from a broken ankle, meaning NOW YOU CAN SCOUT HIS PLAY WITH MORE ACCURACY which will help his stock soar easily into the first

Keep them coming as always enjoy your work, thanks :)

I love Burfict's abilities but I wouldn't draft him. There is a difference between playing aggressive and playing out of control. He is the latter.

I'll give you my take on this one, BL.

The following are guys in this class that I have rated higher than I had Jackson when he came out. I would take any of these guys in the first without hesitation.

Clairborne, LSU
Kirkpatrick, Alabama
Dennard, Nebraska
Jenkins, North Alabama
Minnifield, Virginia
Rhodes, Florida St (could play FS as well)

And these are the guys that I have rated about the same as I had Jackson rated. All of these guys are good players. Each one just has a flaw or two that would take them out of first round consideration for me.

Hosley, Virginia Tech
Hyde, Iowa
Gilmore, South Carolina
Harris, Oregon
Hayward, Vanderbilt

Dennard did not look very good againt Longhorns last Sat. His coach seemed to tell him to step it up. 007, would you expect any of those to start?

Clairborne could probably start right away. Jenkins could too, but with his history it doesn't really matter. He won't land here.

I expect Claiborne gone long before our pick. This is why I changed my mock from Corner as just not there. If Harris does not step up this season, I hope Quin is moved back.

Wisconsin?

Dennard is only two games back from injury, he's really helping a very young defense.

Claiborne and Kirkpatrick are both probably pipe dreams. I see real improvement in our team this year and I'm pretty sure we won't be in position to draft either of those guys.

In my opinion, Dennard is a better prospect than Amukamara.

Prince is a great physical corner, but his style of play doesn't lend itself to the next level as well as Dennard's.

Yeah, thanks. ESPN was running a blurb about Texas & Oklahoma tomorrow. Sheesh. Thanks for covering for me. WOuld the world turn crazy if Longhorns upset Sooners?

You went back and forth between Fuller and Ta'amu, I would have rather you picked Ta'amu. We can get a very good WR in the 2nd round.

I'm amused by the idea that if Manning comes back and the Colts draft Luck then he'd be able to sit for a few years and "learn from the best in the business". There's no evidence that anyone backing up Peyton Manning has ever learned a thing. For all of his incredible focus and ability Manning doesn't seem to have a single "teaching" bone in his body. That same ridiculous intensity that makes him so good appears to preclude him being able to coach up his backup.

I think a strong, big nose can be selected in third and there are a couple WRs as you say in the second. I am pretty much set in my final mock except for 1st round & 7th.. I don't see a starter there at our pick and want to see how the season goes. I probably will be hoping for a trade down into second getting the guy I am focusing on & an extra pick.

We're in agreement. NT in the 3rd, WR in the 2nd, and my 1st round pick is CB depending on availability. I'm having trouble with that 7th round pick as well though. Maybe a RB as insurance in case we lose Foster to FA. Mario's injury also might move OLB higher on the priority list, looking for a quality backup to Brooks Reed.

If we lose again I may have to change my statement that no starting calibre CB will be available. SHeesh. I really expected to see better play from our back up corners like McCain and McMannis.

My understanding is Foster cannot negotiate with others teams. He is ours unles we allow him to go. Probably draft a Lb that can play both postions. Alabama sure has some good ones. (hint).
