If you're interested in football, and you'd like to learn more about it pretty quickly then I say go pick up a Madden or NCAA Football game. It's an easy and fun way to learn the basics of the game. You learn what each player's responsibility is, and you learn the general look of formations and defenses in the NFL. If you play it between now and when the regular season kicks off you should have a pretty good grasp of whats going on when you see the real thing on the field.

Most NFL teams including the Texans have Football 101 classes designed specifically for women. Its a hands-on seminar with coaches and players explaining the game. If I could find a link with info I would post it.

Texans 101 is usually held in the early spring.

Coming from a woman who has spent the past 50 years enjoying the game of football, I can tell you the best way to learn about the game is to ask questions! Find someone you know, brother, Dad, granddad, friend, SOMEONE, watch the game with them, and let them explain it to you. WATCH football every chance you get, not just the TEXANS, but high school and college. Watch and listen, you will learn.

My passion for the game of football started by going to high school football games, and really accelerated when the mighty Pasadena Eagles went to the State championship neons of years ago! :) I was hooked for life. I watched football with my Mom, who knew more about the game than all my brothers put together. Pay attention and stick with it. You will not learn all about the game by watching pro football for one or two seasons. It will take a long time to get the hang of it, but stay with it. You won't be sorry!
