My Updated Mock Draft? Give some feedback

cadahnic

Rookie
1. Alex Smith QB- Smart, Mobile, and a bigger arm than Aaron Rodgers
2. Cedric Benson RB- Even though he has dropped he is a workhorse back and that is what Miami needs
3. Aaron Rodgers QB- Could go DJ but if they don’t get a franchise QB now they might as well chalk up the first overall pick so they can get Leinhart next year
4. Braylon Edwards WR- They got the old guy now it is time to get the future
5. Carnell Williams RB- Bucs could surprise and go Ronnie, but they want the better receiver and that’s the CADDY
6. Adam Jones CB- Titans have no starting CB, they take the better coverage man in Pac-man
7. Mike Williams WR- Vikings lock down Culpepper’s red zone threat, they go defense with next pick
8. Ronnie Brown RB- Arizona get likely the best RB in the draft and he has not taken the pounding that most of the RBs in the draft have because he split time
9. Antrel Rolle CB- Skins grab themselves another Miami defender who steps in and takes the place of Smoot
10. Thomas Davis SS- Lions finally address defense and get the best safety in the draft
11. Shawn Merrimen DE/LB- Suprising pick but the switch to 3-4 they get the best rushing LB other than Daryl Blackstock in the draft could go Alex Barron T.
12. Marcus Spears DE- Chargers grab a cornerstone end for their 3-4 look for them to make another playoff run
13. Derrick Johnson OLB- Everyone is surprised he falls this far, but the Texans don’t pass on him he takes the place of Kailee Wong and Texans get a great linebacker
14. Troy Willamson WR- Cats go get a fast replacement to compliment their two undersized receivers could go Heath Miller TE but that is too high for him
15. Carlos Rogers CB- Chiefs cant go wrong with a shut-down corner who also has some height
16. Kevin Burnett OLB- Saints got McKenzie and will address the secondary in the second round, they grab a great sideline to sideline backer who will compliment Courtney Watson
17. Shaun Cody DE- Cinci gets some much needed pass rush, their secondary was not as bad as everyone thought last year
18. Marcus Johnson- He is a big OL and they really need one. Their O-line is decent but some drive blockers they grab because they love surprise picks then the grab all defense and another wideout as the draft continues
19. Erasmus James DE- Rams have needed a pass rusher forever they finally get one and a damn good one
20. Alex Barron T- Damn Boys just keep getting better by getting a nice offensive lineman for the future. Man I hate the Cowboys!!
21. Dan Cody DE- Jags signed Hayward and now they get a Grant Winstrom, hard working, character guy who can get after QBs
22. Roddy White WR- They have only one starting wideout they get the Mark Clayton of the draft
23. Marlin Jackson- He is a 6’2” corner who hits like a safety, ohhh buy the way he ran a 4.45 at the combine, he could play safety also a great replacement for Ken Lucas
24. Brodney Pool S- Packers need secondary help like a person needs oxygen
25. David Pollack DE- Shanahan better grab this guy cause if they don’t get a pass rush next season he will be watching football at home
26. Travis Johnson DT- Jets grab a hole plug that will let Robertson be more of a pass rusher
27. Matt Roth DE- The ATL grabs themselves a great pass rusher and in the second they grab a functional offensive lineman
28. Mark Clayton WR- The SuperChargers grab themselves a return threat and playmaker, some think they trade up to get big Mike, but they go with more picks instead
29. Justin Miller- Bob Sanders and Doss are pretty short for safeties but they grab a good corner and then grab themselves a nice linebacker in the second
30. Heath Miller TE- Roethlisberger gets a nice middle and redzone threat and a decent extra blocker
31. Khalif Barnes OL- Runyan is gone and Andrews is coming back from injury. Eagles grab themselves someone to make sure the Eagles can keep throwing to TO
32. Antaj Hawthorne DL- Just like the Patriots, they just keep retooling.

I doubt that the Cowbays pass on DJ if he is there @ 11, but if they do, they would pick a DT/DE we would most likly get him @ 13.

Are you seriouse, Ronnie Brown is known for his pass catching ability coming out of college, he will definitely go before Caddilac and maybe before Ced.

Actually not a chance, you obviously dont have NFL Network or you could have seen Ronnie Brown work out, CADDY was head and shoulders above him when it came to catching, even being compared to Marshal Faulk by Al Davis.

dropped in stock on the RB back board not dropped in the draft GENIUS!!

Dropped from #1 to #1 or was his price $94.56 a share and went to $94.32.

Simmer down it was a joke.

So what did you think of the draft man!!

To be blunt...it's pretty bad...

-No way DJ drops to 13.
-No way Marcus Johnson is the first OL off the board.
-No way Barron drops out of the top 15.
-The Pats drafted Wilfork last year, don't think they are gonna take another DT.

These are just at a quick glance..

Overall looks like good. Surprised to see Burnett that high and Justin Miller that low but hey if it was obvious what every team would do it wouldn't be fun speculating.

I enjoy Mock Drafts but have never found one that was perfect yet.

1st Aaron Rodgers has a stronger arm than Alex Smith & better mobility than most people thought as demonstrated at the combine. Not to mention he played in a made for NFL system at Cal coached by Tedford.

2nd The running backs are so closely clustered to pick a favorite or the best one is more a function of how well they fit the system & how they would be utililized. I'm in the minority but I think Cadillac Williams is going to be the most durable & prolific in the NFL of the three.

3rd There is going to be alot of trades and movement in the draft, for instance I'm convinced Miami is not going RB with the 2nd pick but trading down with Washington (who want Mike Williams) then selecting Rolle & waiting for the 3rd round to take RB (Frank Gore, also of Miami).

4th As some have noted the CB class should all go alot higher

I normally don't like critiquing mock's because somebody usually puts a great deal of effort in it. However...

1. Alex Smith QB- Smart, Mobile, and a bigger arm than Aaron Rodgers

I don't think they'll take Smith...although I do think they should. But if they do, it won't be because Smith has superior arm strength...he doesn't.

2. Cedric Benson RB- Even though he has dropped he is a workhorse back and that is what Miami needs
5. Carnell Williams RB- Bucs could surprise and go Ronnie, but they want the better receiver and that’s the CADDY
8. Ronnie Brown RB- Arizona get likely the best RB in the draft and he has not taken the pounding that most of the RBs in the draft have because he split time

I found it interesting that you based Caddy's superior receiving skills by the combine yet you still have Benson being the first RB taken despite not working out at the combine. Despite not seeing the field as much as Williams, Brown finished with 13 more receptions for 161 more yards. If the Dolphins do take a RB, they'd be stupid to pass on Brown...the most complete RB in this class.

6. Adam Jones CB- Titans have no starting CB, they take the better coverage man in Pac-man

If Derrick Johnson is not gone by here, this is where he goes. You're correct in that the Titans don't have a CB. But they don't have much of anything other than DL. They'll take the best defensive prospect in the draft (Johnson).

9. Antrel Rolle CB- Skins grab themselves another Miami defender who steps in and takes the place of Smoot

Aren't they (Washington) trying to land Samari Rolle (no relation) to replace Smoot? I think this could happen but I don't think it does.

13. Derrick Johnson OLB- Everyone is surprised he falls this far, but the Texans don’t pass on him he takes the place of Kailee Wong and Texans get a great linebacker

I think this is wishful thinking. No way DJ falls out of the top 10 after the numbers he put up at the combine. Showing up at 242 lbs and running the fastest shuttle time of the entire combine? He's not lasting long.

22. Roddy White WR- They have only one starting wideout they get the Mark Clayton of the draft

I'm confused. Instead of taking White and getting "the Mark Clayton of the draft", why not just draft the real Mark Clayton instead?

Those were my initial observations. But like I said, any mock is a crapshoot. Who can say this one won't turn out to be 100%?

I respectfully disagree with the running backs projections. Ronnie Brown will be the first taken. He had an awesome combine as well as an excellent season. Cadillac will be second and Benson third.

I seriously doubt Miami would pick Benson with the overall second pick. Brown appears to be the better back based on his college career and the combine. Plus, from a politically / public relations position, Miami does not want another "ganja" boy from Austin. Benson's comments about the Heisman over OU victory bring his character into question since many NFL clubs place a high value on a team first mentality. He may be a great team player of tremendous moral character, but Ricky Williams is too fresh on Dolphin minds and Brown or Cadillac appear to be safer picks right now. Benson will not be a Dolphin -- in my humble opinion.

I think he was referring to the Mark Clayton taken in last year's draft.

WOW you got me. What did Ronnie Brown do all of the 2004 NCAA football season, made plays in the passing and running game. Auburn actually took Caddy out of the game on passing plays prefering to have Ronnie in because of his much superior receiving skills. You are basing your assumptions off of a combine instead of actual in game production, anyone can catch a pads in shorts with no defenders on the field, Ronnie Brown did it consistently throughout the season.

Oh and I honestly cant say who will be the 1st RB taken but I know that it will be either Ronnie or Ced. It all depends on how well Ced runs the 40 and catches passes at the UT pro day. If he proves that he can catch the football and runs under a 4.5 40 I think hes still the #1 RB off the board come draft time.
